I've chatted with
@RedPlated Jeremy plenty of times over the past few years.
He put his MOAB mod on my anniversary 2204. Punchiest amp I've ever had, after his mods.
I bought from him a Friedman SS100 that he modded, that is probably the best amp I’ve ever owned. I've had a shit ton of amps. The GZ SS is top of the heap.
I've enjoyed seeing his amps get into the hands of touring pros. Dude knows how to hit that balance of old school tone, with modern feel and versatility, without the need for pedals. I won't be surprised if Ground Zero Amps become as popular as Friedman amps some day.
I've always said that the SLO I have now is my ultimate keeper, desert island, if you could only have one.
I heard clips of Jeremy's mod to the SLO, and reached out to him. He said, "you need to check this out".
Jeremy didn't say that to sell me on it. He's the kind of dude that wants you to be happy with your gear, regardless of his mods. He's talked me out of some of his mods that he knew weren't my thing.
He said it because he thinks I'll dig it.
Mentioning all of this to say, if Jeremy recommends his mods for my ultimate keeper amp, they must be badass.
I mean, a better SLO?! Knowing Jeremy's mods, I assume its a bit tighter, punchier, while retaining everything that makes the SLO a legendary classic. No small feat.
But after having the Friedman SS100 that he modded, there is no doubt in my mind, he can pull it off.
GLWS, OP. Perhaps Jeremy will still be available to mod another SLO someday when you miss it.
