I'm new to the boards here, so I'll start by saying hello.
I've been reading through a lot of posts on this, but can't seem to find definitive answers to sway me either way. I've always been a fan and user of Digitech, and progressed from the GNX2 all the way to the GNX3000, which is my current unit. I've been using it for 10+ years. When the GNX4 came out after, I still liked the 3000 better, so stuck with it. And the newer RP1000 I don't like at all.
To get to the point, I play in a busy rock cover band, record my own material, and the 3000 has suited me well. But I feel a change to a GSP1101 or older 2101 would be an upgrade. They're probably cleaner sounding units with a more professional, defined, organic tone? It's too hard to tell from YouTube videos.
My main concern is amp options and effects. My band does everything from Boston, Rush, Green Day, AC/DC, Journey, and Eric Johnson, to Tom Petty, Bryan Adams, and many more. The GNX3000 has 65 User presets, and I use 40-50 any given night (having different amp settings for all the different tones and effects, and the 3000 does a pretty decent job) and I'm always complimented on how accurate I duplicate the sounds and effects from these various artist. I'm also the only guitar player, so, for example, I have all the harmonies in the Boston tunes set to the different intervals on different patches. Would this be just as easy to do with a 2101 or 1101? Also, I see the 1101 doesn't seem to have the Whammy included? Stereo XLR outs are also a must along with stereo 1/4" outs.
I've always been pretty good at programming these things, so I'm not very concerned with ease of operation. I mainly wonder the differences between these units- The GSP1101, and the different versions of the 2101- there's an Artist, ArtistPro version, a 2112, and a 2120? And are they that much better than the GNX3000?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
