Noodles (Offspring)
Colin Hay (Solo Acoustic Stuff)
Chad Taylor (Live)

There, that should stir things up a little.....

Wow, I don't know what to say. Some of the names I see here are some of my favorites, and I never felt guilty about liking their music. To me , there's a lot more to being a guitarist other then just technical prowess. There's actually playing for the song , playing what fits , and with passion and feel which is what 99% of the non guitar playing world gives a shit about anyway. Guys like billy Duffy , the edge, john frusciante , James Williamson, Kurt cobain , have a style and passion that can't be faked. You can hear a track of any one of these guys and know its them cause they stand out from the pack and have played on some of the most memorable songs in rock. I sure as hell would get bored a hell of a lot quicker listening to a virtuoso playing then to any of the above named guitar players.

Randy Bachman.......
Pete Willis......
Dick Dale.......
Elvis Costello

Andy Taylor from Duran Duran and Power Station.
Dave Barry- this is the guitar player for Janet Jackson's song Black Cat. Great playing...

I hear you, the lead in just what I needed is one of those leads that you could hum or sing every note, memorable stuff and note choice.

"That guy from Rascal Flats"

I'm not into their music, but they were on TV before and the guy just slayed the leads.

lol, to my point exactly, this is one of "those" guys without a name..

Joe Don Rooney....he's just a SUPER tasty player....heard the solo on the remake of Life is a Highway, and it was just one of those "yep....that's about perfect" moments

Okay, here is my list. I am sure there will be a few who disagree. But many of these people played amazing guitar and all if not most played the right notes at the right time. They all made some great music.

((One not so well known to many but who should get honorable mention in Wayne Johnson who played with the Manhattan Transfer for over 20 years and still plays as a solo musician and teaches in Southern Cali. He is originally from Spokane, WA.))

All well known in music in the US and beyond... (but they just don't or didn't seem to make any of "the lists")

Robbie Blunt - Robert Plant
Doug Boyle - Robert Plant
Trevor Rabin - Yes
Bill Dillon - Daniel Lanois, Robbie Robertson, Boomers
Bill Spooner - Tubes
Roger Steen - Tubes
Steve Stevens - Billy Idol
Jamie West-Oram - The Fixx
Fred Tackett - Little Feat (and maybe Paul Berrere too)
John Sykes - Whitesnake, Blue Murder, studio work
Mick Ronson - Bowie
Tim Pierce - session guitarist for tons of the best artists
Howard Leese and Roger Fisher - Heart (NOT Nancy Wilson who mainly played her acoustic and SOME electric guitar - Roger and Howard are the guys you hear on the early heyday hits)
Jay Graydon - grammy award winning and well known producer and guitarist.
Tommy Shaw and James Young - Styx
Rudolph Schenker - Scorpions (brother of Michael Schenker, amazing guitarist)
Don Felder - Eagles (definitely!!)
Roger Hodgson - Supertramp, solo

Earth, Wind and Fire:
Al McKay - lead/rhythm guitar, sitar, percussion, vocals (1973-1981)***
Roland Bautista - lead/rhythm guitar, vocals (1972-1973, 1981-1983; died 2012)
Johnny Graham - lead/rhythm guitar, trumpet, percussion (1973-1983)

Ditto:
Keith Scott
Billy Duffy
Davey Johnstone
Chris DeGarmo
Prince

Best regards.

I don't really have guilty pleasures when it comes to music/guitarists. I guess if you mean different than my main influences I would have to say Tommy Emmanuel. How does it get better than this?! Just mindblowingly beautiful, I could listen to this on repeat and not get tired of it.

I have always been a fan of Tim Farris and Kirk Pengilly from INXS. They had some really catchy tunes.

For me it's guys like the Hellecastors or the old time country guys like, Ray Price or the Bob Willis. I love the old Texas swing stuff.
