Guilty pleasures

I hate the guilty pleasure thing. You like what you like. Own up to it. Who gives a fuck what anyone else thinks.

@RaceU4her is a prime example. Dude is a diehard death metal cat and always shares his love for the most random shit you would never guess he slaps to. Gotta love it.

Well my father was a DJ most his adult life, so I basically had a record store in my basement growing up, I remember every week him going to the store to get whatever was requested for that weekends wedding or party or whatever, so I heard and had access to all sorts of stuff from 50’s doowop on before I knew there were rules to what you can and can’t like lol. Just the other day I was discussing with my buddy, who is also very musically diverse, how we are running out of new things to discover that’s English speaking at least, for me now it’s 90s/00’s emo like sunny day real estate and Texas is the reason and all that shit I missed out on back in my metal and hardcore heyday.

Kpop and the americanized versions of it that we see today: KATSEYE, Blackpink, La Sserafim, etc.
Girlypop, slutcore: Chrissy Chlapecka, bludnymph, Ashnikko, etc.
2000s metalcore and screamo: Fear Before the March of Flames, August Burns Red, The Calico System, etc.
Anything by Sofi Tukker.
EDM and House: Fisher, Dom Dolla, Jaded, and this mashup banger - 2010s EDM bangers.
Ummm, that David Byrne and St. Vincent song called I Should Watch TV.
*French Cooking Music* - station on Pandora that plays beautiful bossa nova. My favorite has been Caro Emerald.

I could keep going. I'm not sure how much of these are guilty pleasures vs. me just enjoying music.

I must admit I've never heard of any of those.

I like Devo and REO as a young teen. Still like REO.

What really are guilty pleasures? If you like music listen to it. I listen to a lot of 90's R&b still. I like a lot of the hard hitting dance production styles of that era, d'n'b. A lot of the stuff like TLC, Boys 2 Men, Pm Dawn, into a lot of early Outkast.

I listen to a lot of music, both in the cliché way that everyone says and means, but also, I go to music school. And the beginning of my December was spent listening to about 100 of my dad's classical CDs.

This is true. The longer and longer my previous post got, the more and more my point became, "I just like music."

that shit kicked ass. just had this on this morning, what a fucking jam

and outkast is always the shit

I think if the tread read "List some other music you like beside rock and metal" you wouldn't
get as many replies than if the thread reads "List your musical Guilty Pleasures".

If you know, you know.
Fucker spits over a Primus loop.
Kills it. This whole album is fire.
Love Goodie Mob...Love me Ceelo.

When it comes to rap and hip-hop, I have to channel my inner 10-16 year old. I grew up in Manhattan and one of my friends would make mix tapes - Wreckx-n-Effect, Onyx, Eric B and Rakim, KRS-One, Wu, etc.
But whenever I go to this genre now, the kings will always be A Tribe Called Quest. RIP Phife.

Kill Mother Fucking Depeche Mode, SKOLD, NIN, Rammstein, Mindless Self Indulgence, Atari Teenage Riot, Combichrist, Hanzel und Gretyl, Genitorturers, Prodigy, Marylin Manson, Perturbator, Ministry, Gary Numan, Night Club, more EDM than not, and everyone's fav Limp Bizkit.
NIN was always great and original.

The last Manson song I heard that came out last year was actually great and the best song he's put out imo.

I absolutely loathe Rammstein and hate everything about them.

I have a few guilty pleasures I guess. I like the early Taylor Swift stuff, Justin Timberlake Timbaland era, Dire Straights are badass and Bon Jovi.

Idk i think a lot of people would consider all of them good music but I don't really advertise and I feel pretty guilty about some of them.

Fuxking Rammstein though ?

I never got into rammstein either, I see how big their shows are and I’m just like wtf?! lol

This is actually a more recent guilty pleasure, I went down the prog rabbit hole a few years ago and somehow found my way here ?.

I was gonna say that I have no guilty pleasures. Then I remembered that I like this:

Nice tie Phil...and OMG! electric drums!...he's playing electric drums! I always liked Second Home.
