I know a lot of pros used the Palmer. Would love to check one out one of these days.

Both you guys live in Houston, I have an 09 I could send out to try.

I've heard guys that use the Palmer live. It sounds great. But I've never heard the Radial one in person.

Ooops I should have checked you link first. I thought you were talking about the PGA-04 Speaker Simulator. I've never heard the PDI-09 Junction before.

It sounds good. Heard a cat using one last night. Curious about the difference between the Radial and the Palmer.

I just got a Palmer PDI-09 in the mail today! Maybe I'll do a YouTube vid with it.

Hughes & Kettner Red Box D.I. Was the industry standard forever. Still awesome IMHO. I also use Jet City JetDirect XLR built right into my 24S+ 2x12. Sounds amazing.

I have a couple of those as well. I just didn't like having to run AC to them. But they were more versatile I thought.

I too am really curious about these small DI boxes, Palmer, H&K, Radial etc. Good sound to FOH eh? Beats a decently mic'd 4x12 or comes even close soundwise?

I know at least Shark and possibly steve_k here have experience of the Two Notes stuff and it's really good but do these smaller boxes come even close? Price between the smaller and the Two Notes stuff is a factor for me here as well.

The Palmer 09 is very good for live use. You don't need to worry about mic placement, less leakage. I use it for recording now, but it would had been better is it had a load like the 03. Other than that it sounds great. It is also cheap compared to the PDI-03 if you can live without the load. The torpedo live is even more expensive.

The Palmer is passive which is kind of nice. A sound I used to use would use the Palmer 09 in conjunction with a mic and mix the two. Sounded good.

I believe Steve also has experience with the Radial. He should be able to give you a good overview of Two Notes vs. Radial......

Do a search on the forum for the Radial box, because Steve had posted a review of his a few months back (contrasting it against the Palmer as well!).

EDIT: Here's a link to the Radial review by Steve: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=121556&hilit=Radial

Weheeee thx! See myself posting in that thread and GASing for it already then haha. Tough decisions... I'll see where the KPA takes me first ;).

The Radial unit is about the same as the Palmer. I actually used the Palmer more. Just duct tape it to the back of the cab and off you go. No power required. the Palmer and Radial have ground lift and some cab tone selections, but only a couple. The Radial has an inversion on it if I remember correctly. However, I am blown away with the Two Notes Torpedo Live. You have unlimited tone shaping for your DI signal. It is worth the 3X the cost. Trust me...But, if it just basic DI capabilities and you don't mind your tone preservation so much, the Palmer is a winner. Get a couple of them. I like not having all the ambient stage noise that 57's pick up.

Thx Steve! I think I'll just a have a go with the Palmer in the mean time before I'm done with saving for the KPA.

Kiitos!
