Guitar Center blowing out PRS Guitars!

Wow, some great prices on those PRS. It's tempting. I like the way PRS guitar play and look. But they sound kind of... nondescript. I sold my Singlecut Artist a few years ago. Sometimes I miss it. But I just never really bonded with any PRS I had. But with these prices, I dunno... I'd have to play the guitar first anyway. And the GC near me doesn't have anything good.

And who is the new FMIC (Fender) CEO? The former Guitar Center CEO.

Former GC CEO Larry Thomas has been Fender's CEO since 2010. He is history though. Not exactly retiring by choice. Bye bye Larry!!!! You made Fender the most difficult, adversarial company I have ever dealt with in 21 years. And believe it or not, before that, Fender was the coolest, most willing to work with the dealer company of anyone out there.

I need a CEO job. Get free shit, get some ho's, screw customers over and run a business in the ground. Then, fuck off with my big stack of Benjamins.

It's the American way.

That makes sense that GC was willing to sell me a new SC-58 for 1799 a few months so. It was mis-marked, but they sold it no complaints.

May be time to roll down thru the local GC's in ATL for great deals.

GC is an awful company.
a friend of mine worked as an ops assistant manager.
one weekend the ops manager went on vacation, and my buddy did some number crunching in his office and found out the guy was embezzling tens of thousands of dollars. He got busted, fired, and arrested.

I know right?!? It's like, really??? Were you guys paying attention? HELLO!!!! :gethim:

Anyone that knows how big business works realizes this makes complete sense. Let me say that another way. C level execs who sink ships are almost never fired, they just "move on to other opportunities."

Looks like a stop in Boston this week is on the list of to do's !

This has been a long time coming for GC. They kept expanding and opening up too many stores too rapidly without paying attention to the current trends. Bunch of old men realizing too late that kids are buying on the internet these days.

Their demise has and will affect LOTS of manufacturers, PRS included.

It's because parents drop their kids off while they shop elsewhere. Then those kids grab $2000-$3000 guitars to play Green Day riffs, only to turn around and smack the headstock on something. Which in turn lowers the value. Plus the morons they hire know nothing about gear and setups. Not to mention their in store stock sucks. It's just a giant mismanaged clusterfuck on all fronts.

Yeah, no wonder why Mesa pulled out. A lot of their amps got abused in GC's.

Honestly, I don't think Mesa ever wanted to be in GC. I think their hand got forced when all the mom-and-pop stores were eliminated by the MARS vs. GC war back in the early 2000s; there was literally nowhere else to go.

Well, couldn't help myself. Stripped 58 in Smoke Burst for $1728. After a set of new strings and a truss rod adjustment it's awesome.

Like anything there were good mom and pop shops and bad ones. I would have killed for a mars or guitar center in the city I grew up in. The two local shops charged list price for their gear. I am not guitar center fan, but I do like their prices compared to paying list.

At these prices a prs is tempting, though I am not sure what I would sell to get one as thanks to guitar center my les Paul is not worth as much as it was right now :(

Guitar center came into my town....killed off 3 mom and pop music stores that I went to quite frequently and bought from.
Now once they go tits up guess anything local will not be found.

I don't think Guitar Center will go under. They will restructure somehow.

I hope something will hang around. If I need a cord or something basic. I like to go pick it up. Not order on line.
