Well, couldn't help myself. Stripped 58 in Smoke Burst for $1728. After a set of new strings and a truss rod adjustment it's awesome.

Yes. It played like shit, the action was really high. But I convinced them to get some tools and adjust the truss rod which was all it needed. Sometimes when a neck has too much relief you never know what the neck is going to do when you straighten it out. Some necks turn into Galloping Gerty! This one straightened right out, and "I think" it's the best sounding PRS I've played.

And who is the new FMIC (Fender) CEO? The former Guitar Center CEO.

I know right?!? It's like, really??? Were you guys paying attention? HELLO!!!! :gethim:

Anyone that knows how big business works realizes this makes complete sense. Let me say that another way. C level execs who sink ships are almost never fired, they just "move on to other opportunities."

Exactly! Doesn't matter if you do a good job or not, that's not a requirement. Good Ole Boys club. Just look at the automotive industry sometime for more proof.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Nik and I am a Guitar Center employee. First off, please ignore all rumors of us closing down. This isn't true by any means. If anything, we are growing and expanding in the best ways possible.

As for the PRS deal, if you are not satisfied with it, or are looking for a deal on a new model (sourcing from our distribution center, not from a store), please email us at yourvoice@guitarcenter.com and we will get you taken care of.

Thank You.

Nik

There goes the re-sale on anyone trying to move a used guitar! F'in GC... They did the same thing to Les Pauls - blow shit out, and totally kill a market.

That was Gibson's doing not GC.
All Gibson retailers were offering blow out pricing not just GC.

I'm not sure why, but Gibson now shows actual retail pricing for their guitars instead of MSRP, which made them look even more expensive.
That just started this year.

GC may not be the best "in the know" shop, but at least you can buy or order and return to the local store if you didn't like it or if it broke.
Online retailers have similar return policy, but you have to pay to ship back if you just don't like the product.

My local GC just remodeled and brought in a bunch of new Gibson's and Fender's.
Maybe some locations will shut down, but we'll have to wait and see if it all goes down.

MF is a sister company to GC.

When Fender tried to go public a few years back they had to disclose in their IPO Disclosures there biggest vendor (60% of total sales) was GC who was 12 months behind and in receivership. They withdrew their IPO shortly thereafter. Look up Mars music , same thing. Expanded way to much for a finite market. Just about everyone is a customer for Target or Best Buy, Guitar Center not so much but they have tons of stores in the same big box model and space. Sweetwater is kicking their ass all over the place. Brick and Mortar is done for niche items.

I agree. GC expanded waaaay too much.

Sweetwater's store, warehouse, and studio's are really cool.
I've been there twice.
They are expanding and the new spaces should be open by this summer.
It's a 150 mile drive each way for me, but it's a cool place to visit.
They actually have some higher end gear in stock to try out, unlike most GC's.

The only GC's that may have an EVH or Engl in stock to try out are the Chicago city GC. The surrounding suburbs are on the low end.

Wow, some great prices on those PRS. It's tempting. I like the way PRS guitar play and look. But they sound kind of... nondescript. I sold my Singlecut Artist a few years ago. Sometimes I miss it. But I just never really bonded with any PRS I had. But with these prices, I dunno... I'd have to play the guitar first anyway. And the GC near me doesn't have anything good.

Order one, and try it at home.
If you don't like it take it back to the local GC.
The shipping is free, but you'll pay state tax since most states have a brick and mortar GC store.
You'll get 30 days to check it out at home.

I agree, the prices are really tempting.
But I just got a new ESP, and Schecter just sent me a new C1 Classic to replace my older manufacturer defect C1.

Must...stay.....away.....from.....clearance pricing! :D

This has been a long time coming for GC. They kept expanding and opening up too many stores too rapidly without paying attention to the current trends. Bunch of old men realizing too late that kids are buying on the internet these days.

Their demise has and will affect LOTS of manufacturers, PRS included.

It isn't just the kids.
My buddy owns a local music shop that specializes in higher end used gear.
He's got a great supply of quality Gibson's and Fender's, and some other gear and lower priced items for the customers who buy on the low end or for kids starting out.
Yet, where are all those people who Bit!ch about GC? Why aren't they supporting the last of the existing local music stores that are run by actual working musicians as my buddies store is?

It's because everyone wants a great deal and they want the last penny off the price they pay. Well, for that you get now service and people who don't know crap about what they are selling.
We may complain, but we, the buying public are at fault for what's going on, and for why Walmart still exists.
I will NOT shop at Walmart. I'd rather pay a bit more somewhere else.

I was a selling a Bad Monkey and a Boss EQ pedal really cheap and offered a price break if they bought the 2 of them plus I'd throw in a free Boss power supply pedal. And STILL, a few guys on TGP tried to lowball me down from that!

Doesn't look like any of the NF3's are on sale. Bummer.

I see about 20 of them on that list.

Well shit... I over looked them like ten times. The list was so dang long that my mind went numb. :D

Thanks!

I just wish the list gave the neck profile, and preferably a link to a pic of the guitar - I want to find a pattern thin (or wide thin) on a Singlecut, but I can't call every damn store that has an SC listed, so I'm left with Tremontis and there's only 4..
