So yesterday this Charvel custom shop popped up on ebay. I knew this guitar already because I had called gc in washington when it had first come in. It has since been there a while and now on clearance. Yesterday when it came up on ebay I called the store to see if it was still there a yes, they had not sold it. I sent an email to the seller calling him out and here is his first response

seller-"Yes, it's a flip. They paid too much, so I told the manager I'd help out. I figured someone would offer less, then after tax and fees they'd get it out, and I'd break even type thing. I work with them often. Is that ok? I'm happy to take it down if you feel this inappropriate for ebay or something…"

My response back
me-"yes, its inappropriate to try and sell something on ebay that you don't own. I see you pulled the auction but I'll still be calling guitar center today to clue them in on this. Saved the link and info to the auction and Im going to be forwarding it to their store manager"

And my favorite reply
seller-"Look, I was just trying to help out. I was honest with you, and I removed the listing. I wasn't trying to do anything other than help them out a little bit. You are more than welcome to call though. As I said, it was the idea while I was there yesterday that I would list this thing to help them sell it. That's it."

Since when does guitar center ask customers for help to sell a piece on ebay…When said customer hasn't even bought the guitar lol. Heres a link to his ended auction for it,whats even better is its guitar centers photos lol

Its probably an employee. Run the auction if it sells,he buys it at a deep discount and sells it on Ebay for a profit. If it doesn't sell no problem because he never bought it.

That probably explains why he removed the auction so quickly. That would certainly be against company policy and potentially grounds for termination.

eBay seller since 2003 with 100% feedback on 160 transactions... who can you trust...

What did GC have to say about this?

I know guys that will buy stuff from GC and try to sell it and if they can't they take it back before the 30 day grace period. At least they bought it first.

I think that's pretty crummy too. If the intent is to bring it back if it doesn't sell, they're not actually buying it in fact, what they're doing costs GC something in labor because there are administrative tasks associated with the "purchase" and return. I wonder if they can sell it as new if it's returned? Could be a loss there too.

Weird. On another note, that is the nicest birdseye pointy neck I've ever seen! :inlove:

they have a custom shop quilt top standard trem that looks pretty nice too...

I have a feeling it was one of their managers. I called and filled them in and at first the guitar dept manager chick had no idea what was going on and wanted the guys info, then there was a pause while she was talking to another associate and she came back on the phone and said "we already have the sellers info" It wasn't on ebay for more than a few hours and I doubt anyone else but me caught it so how would they know when their dept manager had no idea at first lol. Shady to me, Im going to forward everything to their cs dept.
On another note, I just bought my green/blue quilt custom shop back from guitar center. Not sure why I sold it to them in the first place. A friend of mine sold it back to me for what they bought it for so it was kind of like having a loan from gc for a month or two lol.

yes, this smells somewhat shady...but who has the time or gumption to follow up with phone calls to superiors and on and on? It's not like you got hosed  Somebody's trying to make a few bucks on the side and you're basically trying to be a do-gooder for a large corporate entity. Way to make sure everyone is walking a straight line :scared:

lol, you're right, I really didn't think of it that way lol. I was just trying to get a better deal on that one because of it lol. I gave up anyways, like you said, its not really my problem

oh, now I see- trying to get a better price to feed your GAS. We've all been there!

omg, I ONLY KNEW BECAUSE I WAS LOOKING AT THE GUITAR BEFORE. Think of it this way, If you had bought that guitar bin(i know it wouldn't happen but whit if) and payed at checkout instantly. That guy then has your money right. Then what if at the same time someone buys it from guitar center. This guy takes your money and goes to buy it but now its gone. Now he's wasted your time and has to refund your money etc etc. Am I an ebay monitor,no. I just happened to know this guitar was still at gc
