I was scanning thru Guitar Centers Used inventory (as I sometimes to do since I have found some steals there) looking at Bogners. Got about 10 items in and found a few doozies:

Bogner Volume pedal ( was a Bogner Uberschall pedal)

Bogner Compressor/Limiter Pedal ( Bogner Red)

Bogner 25th Anniversary Shiva Amp

Good times.

Oh, the 25th Anny amps are out now?! Gotta check 'em out!

:loco:

GC not knowing their inventory has saved me a shit ton of money over the last 10 years. The Epiphone Elitist that I got for $100, a couple Ibanezes that they had no idea what they had, and I've personally never paid more than $200 for a cab there, even when they were just missing badges.

yeah they made the 25 annies in their 23rd year

Stein, I'm with you. I bought a very nice Bogner custom cab from the Brooklyn store for $450. That thing was worth at least $850. I eventually passed on the love to a RT member who I sold the cab to for basically the same price.

Almost forgot, I got a basically brand new Alex Lifeson Les Paul for $2650. That's just insane!!

Yup. I bought a 91 Washburn Davies N4 in excellent condition for a few hundred bucks. I think they thought it was an N2!

Sure thing!!!! I grabbed a 1936 Marshall 2x12 with cover and casters for $225.00. Imagine the poor fucking slob they smoked when he traded that thing in :D !

Love GC's used gear section online, but I feel for the guys that sell/trade their stuff to GC. Some of the used deals are amazing, the original owner must have really gotten screwed/needed meth money/etc.

When they enter in used gear a lot of times they are just lazy. A lot of pedals get categorized as compressor/limiters. I've gotten a couple good deals on gc used, got my mills for like $450 out the door, and a g major 2 that they thought was a g major.

Used gear at Guitar Center is the only reason I hope they stay in business!

Ive made $2k profit off them in the past 2 months off 2 guitars I bought from them and sold back to a different store bc their associates didnt know what they brough in. The most recent was my beloved red first year quilt wolfgang. The best part is I've bought FROM them and sold back to them for way more money just a few months later. The red quilt I bought from them for 700 lol, sold it back to them for 1700 lol. it now sits in the attleboro store. I do want to buy that one back though....

This, AND the 30 day money back return policy.

I went into a Guitar Center with a printed copy of Musicians Friend page of a MM JP-6 without a Piezo, said I wanted them to price match the one of the wall (with Piezo), and did it with no questions. Not the same guitar, about a $400 price difference. But when GC doesnt train their employees or hires ones that have no gear knowledge, might as well put their stupidity to use.

if it is "out of the ordinary" in anyway - there is a deal to be had. Used GC is one of my go to sites when looking for something on the used market. I have "stolen" tons of stuff from them over the years!

I bought a Soldano SLO 100 for $1500. They thought it was an HR 50

A lot of times they will front-load larger deals by taking in used gear, too. I did that a couple of times when I worked there. I had a $30K deal that we took a bunch of used gear in on. We actually took a hit on the used gear a bit because of how much we marked off some of the new gear. But when you're making a large deal like that, the end numbers were usually what everybody was looking at.

I got a brand new Hendrix style Marshall 4x12 (leather top handles, no side handles) - in purple! - for $400. Usually GC used or "vintage" pricing is thru the roof!

Let's see..where do I start? Jubilee 2550 for 1200...2554 combo for 800..(sold for 1500)..Vintage superlead for 749..(it was a ptp 1971, put a new headshell on it and=2200)...at least 5 Crate Stealths( I know ) for LESS than 150..all sold for at least 350..and just yesterday a MINT 1979 JMP 2204 for 899..not the best deal but try finding that on ebay...gotta love GC online.

I should add that all of these were mislabeled..darn..(except the Crates lol)...

I once got a 77 2203 for $300, 76 Superlead 50 watter for $575, 78 twin reverb $275, 70's Marshall checker 4x12 with blackbacks $499, fender super champ xd $159 . I also have seen "vintage" gear listed for double the going rate so it can work both ways there.
