Dunno if you guys know who that is...he's sort of famous because if you buy a guitar from him, it's mostly because of the 80 PLUS hi res pics he takes of every guitar he sells, plus he knows his stuff.

Anyway...call my boy Moses to get a setup time for the Charvel, he shoots me an address and I jump down there.....walk in the door and a bell rings...he pops out and says "cmon back" and I walked into this.

Apparently Moses is doing setups for him, as he should cause M does the best setups in SLC bar none.

Big pics are big:

Anyway......once dude found out I was a gearhead work stopped immediately......we were running up and down stairs grabbing guitars and plugging into 2 full stacks......JVM410 and Orange Rockerverb.....cops showed up, beer, etc.....

Shit was a blast. Dude told me to come back anytime, cause his stock was less than half what it usually was........

I'm probs gonna go back maybe once a month just to see what they have....he's got an eye for good stuff, and I see no reason not to, if only to take em a 6 pack and play some cool shit.

Anyway, just wanted to share....if you're thinking of buying from Guitar Chimp, have no worries. You'll get the best setup you've ever had from Moses, a super clean guitar, and the whole experience is gonna rule.

Wow that is awesome. What an incredible collection, they look great AND you got to play around with them!
Win/Win!

Cool stuff. Sounds like it was a good time.

Honestly, if Guitar Chimp knows his stuff why can’t he set up his own guitars? It only makes sense to know how to do it if he flips so many guitars. Would save himself a lot of cash... I’m sure setups must cost him $35 a pop?

Dave, when I said knowing his stuff I meant knowing history on guitars....we all do that; I can tell you if a suspect Gibson is fake, I can tell you the differences between a Norlin and modern LPC, I can school a layman on Jackson Soloists or Charvels, I can give you experiential knowledge on EMGs vs Fishman Fluences vs SD Blackouts etc.....doesn't mean I know how to setup a guitar worth a damn for anyone but myself.

Plus she's been doing this a long time and he's deeper into it than the average forum guy.

I know who you are and know that you know your shit, but if you went at this as a fulltime business shipping between 50-100 guitars per week like he does, wouldn't you want someone on the side to back you up when it got heavy?

Moses went to luthiery school, and builds and sells his own guitars, he just does this stuff for side cash...and I'll say this....he's done setups for me for years, put together partscasters that I've grabbed parts for and done the setups for those too.

I dig the process of partscasters, dig the design ideas, like choosing colors and parts and things that will work well together.....Moses sets them all up for me. When I get bored/ want to do a new one, I off the current build for parts $.

I've literally never sold one of these things where the buyer didn't comment on how well it was setup and how well it played, so it's a win/win for both of them.

Damn... DAMN.... DAMN!!!! While that BCR might not be your thing, it's right there for me... DAMN...

Now I have something to do the next time I'm in SLC. :)

Dude they're open Mon-Fri 10-5.....you're here then hit me up and I'll take ya, if they're amenable. It's not a storefront, remember.

I have had my eye on a number of his guitars. Seems like a good dude too

I will definitely take you up on that! Thank you for the offer, too!! Not sure when it will be, but probably sometime next spring.

Just finished looking at his site. There's some amazing things in there, more than you caught in the pictures. So nice!!

Hey. Something might have been lost in translation. I wasn’t slagging anyone, just thinking the guy is selling a lot and could save a boatload or cash doing stuff himself... I get that a backup is needed though. Most of use change setups on guitars we buy. No need to take it to the best luthier when it most likely won’t be appreciated.

Kudos to someone who is selling that many guitar a week. That’s a lot of work.
