What ONE guitar have you owned that you would really like to get back?

Mine: 1962 Gibson SG Jr w/factory installed Bigsby (my first guitar - bought for $150). I traded it towards a Custom Shop Gibson Q3000 (that ultimately wasn't worth much) because the lacquer was checked all to hell and the Bigsby wouldn't stay in tune. I was a moron back then

Original factory handmade PRS Custom24 with the original one piece trem. 10 Top, yellow/gold quilt maple top, dk red mahogany back and neck, rosewood board w/abalone birds.

2 guitars.

both when i was a student running out of money and needed to pay the rent

one mint ibanez JS1000 with a fluke neck, it was dead straight quarter sawn with like a 3A flame down the back. sold it to a shop, and when i had the money to buy it back the guy who bought it had dropped it on stage and snapped the neck a week after getting it..

and my wolfgang, black, it just was the most awesome rock guitar i ever owned, and that was including an ESP MKII deluxe

Would have to be either Maiden 'Eddie' Strat or the Original Ibby JEM77FP

+1

i miss my wolfgang.

it was a tone beast. i will own another one someday, or build one like it.

'88 Fender MIJ Contemporary tele with dual humbuckers. Great playing guitar, sounded good. Sold it to trim down to a friend. I have offered to buy it back.

I also miss my '95 Gibson LP studio in black, which is strange cause I never was 100% satisfied with the guitar, but playing it before I shipped it, it still sticks in my mind. The tone that LP had on the neck 490R pickup was awesome. It was the bridge, I could never get right. Yet when I put back the 498T before I sold it and played it one more time, I was really pleased with the sounds from the bridge too.

As far as best sounding and playing - surprisingly my wine red mid 80's LP studio and an old Kramer pacer Imperial.

rarity - an 87 or 88 custom soloist - in deep metallic purple with matching reversed headstock with a black logo.

from a value standpoint - I gave away an original Paul Gilbert Blue/pink for $400 to my other guitarist in my band at the time, and an original Ibby Petrucci for $1000

Three come to mind:
'87 Jem 777DY
'78 Maple Shorthorn Mockingbird
'82 Dean Cadillac

If I could have any guitar back, it would be my stolen '84 BCR Stealth.

Both of my previous Les Pauls. The first was a tobacco sunburst Deluxe, I don't remember the year, that had been routed for standard size humbuckers. Really my first "nice" guitar. The other was an '81 Black Beauty Custom. Both were sold when I was young and broke. Well, broke-er than I am now... The Deluxe funded my first Charvel and the Custom funded my first "good" computer. At the time, I was stoked about both sales and resulting purchases, but now, I really wish I still had those guitars.

1983 Les Paul Studio. had a super slim neck (not sure what profile) and a natural finish. It was the only one I've ever seen like it.

That's pretty much mine too. It was from 1987 serial # 1072 ( or something close to that ). Cherry Sunburst, pre 10-Top, Sweet Switch, etc; etc; :m9:

wow mine that got away is a lot cheaper then all yours for sure.

epiphone goth flying V stock everything. i wanted a project guitar and it was the perfect platform. stupid gas made me sell it. for a krank chadwick, that i traded for a PA, that i just sold :aww:

I don't really like selling guitars, but I don't really miss anything I've ever sold. I had a Jem DBK that I hated, a Universe I didn't like, and an RG550 and Yamaha MS1221 that I bought only to sell. Other than that, I have held on to most everything else. Oh, I did buy a pair of cheapie Ibanez low end guitars that ended up returned within a day or two of purchase.

Out of all of those I kind of wish I still had the UV, because my current seven string is also kind of lousy. If I did still have it, I would have swapped out the pickups as a last ditch effort to make it sound tolerable.

Wait...I did have an RG565 that I sold to my dad, and he loaned it to someone only to never receive it back. I really wish I hadn't sold it to my dad (gulp...for $120), because people pay silly prices for those now.

"I don't really like selling guitars..." - I'm with you on that. After living and learning by selling what would become a vintage SG Jr., I've pretty much adopted a policy of never selling any musical equipment I buy. If I wanted it bad enough and it seemed like a good enough deal to pull the trigger, I keep it. I could see maybe buying something specifically to re-sell, but that's probably the only time (unless, of course, I find a '59 Burst at a rummage sell and can flip it for a cool $300K ;) )

I think that would be my Goldtop PRS Standard. It was special as it was an older Standard but did have a maple top. Standards and in particular fully painted Standards almost never had a maple top. It also had Dragon I pickups, it was a non-trem model that I converted to have the McCarty-switching which made it closer to a McCarty then a Standard.

I was a tele/strat player and couldn´t deal with humbuckers back then and sold it. It was a VERY cool plank with a good vibe, I just didn´t "feel" it.

The one I sold isn't a classic but I miss it for some reason, probably because I put alot of money in it,and I used it to record slot of music. It's a Gibson flying V.
I won some money in Vegas about 4 years ago, left the casino and drove to L.A. And bought it,changes ALL the hardware, bridge, tuners, stop bar, pickguard, pickups, nut.
Turned all black.played awsome.
Now Brad (rareguitar) has it,I was laid off and had to sell it.
Still makes me sad,I can build another one like it but it wouldn't
be the same.
Still sad!

another Wofgang here :(

Bought it from a guy whos buddy worked at the Peavey factory. Had no serial # but had the most incredible flame top and birdseye neck
