Related question. Do you guys think that a pickup/guitar sounds more lively, with more output, with the tone pots unhooked, and run with only volume pots?

Yes, in my opinion. I discovered this a few years ago. I bought a new Blackat guitar that just didn’t sound right. It was ok, but sounded like there was a curtain in front of the speaker. I couldn’t get rit of it. I was about to sell it. I ended up snipping the wire connected to the tone pot and it just came alive. Had the edge and bite I wanted. I have the tone knob disconnected on most of my guitars.

Cool, I thought it might. I’ve got two guitars with Afwayus. The guitar with only one volume pot seems to be hotter with more attack. I’m gonna be disconnecting some tone pots.

Upon further examination I'm finding the green one doesn't push the amp as much like it's lacking in volume. The black one is a heavier guitar and the tone knob is kinda wonky so I'm thinking new pots in both should do the trick plus these guitars don't need the push pull tab nonsense.

You can get pots that 'turn off' when you dime them, called 'no-load' pots. I typ don't bother with them either but worth mentioning.

It's worth the upgrade. I highly recommend Bourns (usually $5). The old Russian green caps are amazing for the money (usually $8). Also replace the jack with the two contact Switchraft one, I have found them much more reliable.

Its a sub 20 minute job if you are decent with an iron. Those parts will last forever.
