Yeah, I'm looking for a guitar with a neck similar to my EBMM Petrucci.
I love the size and feel of the neck and beside getting another like it, I would like
to perhaps get something else. It has to have a floyd and humbuckers.

Any suggestions?

Still lovin' the JP Phil?

My advice, get another one... Or get the cheap Sterling model and pimp it! :-P What's wrong with having 2 of the same guitar.

Seriously, I played a basic JP6 this past weekend and now have a serious GAS for one. I really loved it.

How 'bout the EBMM Steve Morse Y2D,
The Luke, EBMM Axis.
They seem similar to me, I would say
the Peavey Wolfgang Standard (one of favorite
guitars) I LOVE the Wolfgang neck!!

I too would get another petrucci and just thrown in a crunch lab and a liquid fire in it. Same guitar, same neck, same feel...different tone ;)

The jp is wider at the nut (1 11/16) the axis is 1 5/8. The overall neck is totally different - the jp has a 15" radius and the axis has a 10" radius. Not only is the jp wider at the nut but it is flatter on the top and on the back. Not to mention the frets pn the jp are slightly wider than the axis as well

with this being said, they are nothing alike

I prefer the axis myself in overall feel and tone. I hate the stock pups in the jp (the old style that is)

@Lord Toneking

Thanks for your better description of 2 different necks. When I tried both this past weekend, I wanted to like the Axis but ended loving the JP... Must have been playing too much my Ibanez lately...

None that I know of. That's a pretty unique neck. Doesn't feel at all like an Ibanez per a previous post stated. At least not to me. The neck on mine is unfinished and as an ebony board.

I also love the trem on my JP6. Stays in tune just as well as a Floyd, but is smoother and not such a pain in the ass when changing strings.

Very good guitar overall!

Yes, It's still my main guitar. Yeah, The BFR is a bit too expensive but the JP6 is about right.

I'll have to give that guitar a serious try.

But beware, the JP and the Axis are both different animals... Neck shape and size, 24 vs 22 frets, upper fret access, flat top on the Axis vs the deep elbow cutaway on the JP.

There really wouldn't be any other EBMM with a similar neck. Closest might be the Morse, but even then still quite different.

The closest thing to the JP would be Ibanez.

Which Ibanez?
I had a RGT and the neck was not similar at all (much wider)

^^ RG 520 Maybe? I think the JP Ibanez had some variation of Viper neck.. I think anything with a Wizard II neck or maybe a Jem neck would be closest.

I would not say Wizard II but Jem neck seems closer. I'm no guitar expert but when (above) I compared the JP's neck to an Ibanez one, I was more thinking about how it feels with your hand around it, thinner vs the rounder feel of the Axis one.

Phil, if you go to Italmelodie, a basic JP6 is the same price as the Jem 505 (cheapest Jem out there). To me the JP6 was the winner but YMMV and to each his own.

Keep us posted on what you do.

I only suggested that because the Wizard neck measurements are very similar to a Jem and the EBMM JPM, as well as the Ibanez JPM.

@bsp01 No problem! I have no idea of the "technicalities", I did my comments based on my "feel" of the neck.
