Gus G takes Yngwies spot

I worked a show with Mark Boals in 2009 when he was with Royal Hunt. Nice guy. I have also worked with several other Yngwie band members and I can confirm that is a wig.
Also worked a gig in 2007with Gus G. Great player, but he was nervous as hell for whatever reason.

Royal Hunt is a freaking killer band. Way underrated

I can see how someone coming from yngwie would be a bit disappointed though because its song oriented and not shred oriented

Agreed and to this day for what he does/did nobody comes close.

my friend Andrew and i beelined chest to the stage at the university of hawaii ballroom for the alcatrazz concert. Andrew’s hand is the one throwing the horns shadow on Yngwie’s strat in this shot to give you an idea of how close we were. during YJM’s solo Andrew who didn’t even play gtr went bonkers as Y kneeled in front of us shredding and A pulled the cord out of Y’s gtr and almost got a swedish kick in the face!

to see Y rewrite the book 2 feet away from my 17 yr old face was beyond words.

i caught YJM’s sweat rag during the final bow rising force show, which a guy jumped on my back and tried to steal but Zachman punched him in the kidneys.
that was more like a mix of punk rock meets metallica frenzied crowd energy. i recall a fat guy tried to stage dive and the crowd busted a f-that/Moses Red Sea = enjoy the floor spread eagle boy, and then like a wave over a sand castle at the beach the crowd just floor matted him!

he opened for Dio at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu for Marching Out, played eruption with his teeth and dusted Viv of the stage, and i got to hang out with the johanssen bros one night and got them to play with my friend’s house band and then sat with YJM and his chick at our table the next night at the local rock club.

Gus is a great player, saw him when Firewind supported Dragonforce.......thought Firewind were miles better........caught a pick too!

I'm not a huge Yngvay fan but I did like all those songs much better with Gus G's humbucker's versus Yngvay's single coils Dimarzios........

And Yes....... I know I am misspelling YNGVAY.
