No contest, fret finish on the made in China stuff makes me wonder what the hell they were thinking. 1300$ Canadian for one of these things and that is what you get? No thanks. I'll stick with Japan or Mexico. I couldn't believe how rough they were. Sure you can say all it takes is a dressing but come on, for anything over 500$ I shouldn't have to worry about that. I'm thinking i might pick up another so cal at some point instead.. the neck dimensions which i didn't gel with are now growing on me and the spec that I dug (N4 neck- flatter) is getting old for me now. Funny how that is. I think it is from recently playing Les Paul types and getting used to smaller fretboards which i now see lead to less fatigue for me in the hands. Anyway back on track, chinese guitar... think twice. Not ruling all of them out but for any type of finish, I'd hope they send them to their US quality control first :scared:

Got a sweet brand new looking cream Japanese EVH Wolfgang special with case for $599 from the Guitar Center used site. Really great guitar that holds up pretty well against my Peavey Wolfgang carved tops.

I've got a Wolfgang USA and a Wolfgang Special Hard Tail (made in Japan by the way). Aside from the curved top on the USA, I can't tell a difference in the way they play or sound. Both are phenomenal guitars. I've also got a Striped Series...excellent guitar for being made in Mexico.

If you're worried about the Specials being "junk", don't be, they're not.

Def. not worried about them being junk.. as long as they were not the ones produced in China. I was just remarking how bad the fret finish was on them for a guitar of that price. I think I'll stick with Charvel if I go that route again..

I just checked around, I didn't realize they moved production to China!

Your reference to the N4? Are you talking about the Washburn N4? If so the fretboard radius on them is 12". Same as a Les Paul...

I'm talking more width at the nut and 12th fret , not so much the radius.. it has a wider feel like an Ibanez would, flat and more spread out. At least it feels that way to me. I like it, lots of real estate but sometimes it is nice to have a smaller board.
