Hagen powertube problem

Hi guys!

Something happened to my Hagen during a rehearsal with the band last night. I hope you can help or at least give some insight to
what happened.

I was just playing the amp and I noticed in the corner of my eye that something was glowing really bright inside the amp. I looked a little closer and saw that one of the powertubes was glowing really bright and the amp was putting out some static noises. I quickly turned the amp on standby and looked at the back of the amp, and of course the tube light was lit. So after some really bad language, I turned the amp off. I didn´t have the frame of mind to check the fuse at the time (still haven´t as the amp is still at the rehearsal space). It still has the stock tubes (EL34BG) in it. I´m interested in trying the KT77´s if I have to change the powertubes (which I´m pretty sure I have to).

So what should I do?

Just get some new tubes and have it biased. Just change the fuse or both?
Could something else be wrong with the amp?

I´ve never had a powertube go bad on me before (I usually change powertubes quite often), so I´m not sure how to proceed.

Any help is appreciated!

Sorry to hear that but that is the reason I went to KT77-JJ.
Please get quartett of this tubes and replace the fuse.
Don´t forget to bias it.

Best,
Peter

Thanks Peter!

Just bought a matched set of JJ KT77. Quite expensive, but can´t wait to try them.

Yup, I will get it biased. Is 70ma per pair the right value?

Please go to 75mA because the tubes will
go down to 70mA after a few hours.

A difference of 1 volt at your mains will
cause a difference of 1,5mA at the bias.

A matched quad set of "JJ KT77s" should not cost more than $76.00.

I live in Sweden, so everthing is pretty expensive.

I could have gotten 6 Ruby EL34´s for the price I paid for 4 KT77.
I´ve got the tubes at home now and will install them tomorrow and hopefully have it biased and ready for action later this week.

sweden doesn't like hookers (officially)... that's why they (officially) thought about not participating in german's soccer world championship (2006)

Yeah, that´s...uh... actually true. I can´t believe you remember that.

Perhaps we should have stayed at home. I seem to remember a rather humbling experience against Germany in that tournament.
