Please swap the phase inverter and power tubes
between both amps. The Hagen has a power
rating of about 130 watts RMS on my workbench.

Haven't tried the second master, which one is the phase inverter? Sorry not sure how to go about doing this,

So open up the vh4, and swap tubes with the Hagen?

PI tube is the one far left when looking from the back on the Hagen..almost in the center of the amp

Yes Reza.

But is the Hagen not loud enough or just get
compressed after reaching his full level at 12 o clock ?

Most Diezel power amps starts to get compression
after half way open master and don´t get much
louder. Of course You should have enough power
with a master setting of 10 to 11 o clock and the
channel volumes at noon. Did You try to crank the
channel volumes on the Hagen ?

Thanks , so swap the phase inverter and the power tubes, this means a rebias right?

Depends..just to perform this test it may not be necessary..do you have the same Ruby type in both amps ? how are the PC numbers close to each other ?

 Strange!

My Hagen is way louder and less compressed than my VH4S - and Hagen sounds a lot better in a loud band-rehearsal-room-mix...

The vh4 is more "there" , feeling a lack of oomph with the Hagen thru this cab, gonna take the Diezel 4x12 w/v30s to the rehearsal next weekend, see if that makes a difference. Getting more RF frequencies thru the Hagen rig as well, the vh4 is quieter and less susceptible to RF in my experience.

I guess, you compared the third channels of each amp?

Jepp - with V30s...

...and then I tried EVM12L in a FL cabinet with Hagen's 3rd channel with gain @ 11:00 and Volume @ 2:30h (everythin' else at noon) and decided to sell the VH4... true story!

How different does the amp sounds with 6550 ? which ones do you have ? SED's ?

thx

Feel free to start your own thread or ask in PM, I'm trying to solve my own problems here...

Did you try to swap the tubes as Peter asked ? Also is it something that you noticed from the start ?

B.

Yo Reza, didja get this sorted out?? My Hagen's deafening...and offers about the same amount of PUNISHMENT that my VH4 did. Just wondering - less compressed, about the same SPL IMHO.

Mojo

Are you fighting a 8x10 bass cab and a super loud drummer?
I think it was the cab I was using at rehearsal. The fact that I didn't understand was that the volume stopped increasing at 12 oclock on the master. I want it to keep getting louder!!
Point made, debate over

Not really, if the bass player is using a 10 Watt bass amp in front of the 8x10
