bogner more raw, hagen more defined and refined. plus everything reza said. i choose hagen.

If only one amp out of the two??

The Hagen.

But I am a complete and utter Uber/Bogner fanboi, and have several amps of theirs (Bogner) to sate my desired tonal palette, if you will. But if I only had 1 of the 2 to pick from, it'd be the Hagen for all the aforementioned reasons and more - it is a Diezel.

Uncle Mo

Yep, their tone for metal is both terrific, so it really boils down to the over all amp. Hagen wins by a mile as far as user capabilities and versatility.

Imo they are two different amps. I love the Uberschall sound and primarily use it as a one trick pony though it is definitely not. To compare that with the versatility and such of the Hagan or VH4 for that matter is not a realistic comparison. The Diezel has far more to offer. I love the Hagan.

Hagen, even though both excel at that they were made to do.

I used an Uberschall for years and it always had way too much gain saturation for me even at modest settings. I ended up running mine with 5751s in both preamp slots for the gain channel to compensate. I vastly preferred the Hagen I had a chance to play a few months ago. It had much better clarity and a more unique voice.

It is a Diezel... Ahem.

:D

Hagen vs Uber, I'd go with Hagen.

But Hagen vs XTC, I'm going with molly.

I'm going to be Devils advocate here. It depends on the revision of the uber. Rev1/2 and no contest as far as high gain tones go, Uber. Versitility hagen, but depends on what you need out of a head, one sound and I'd go uber. I'm a VH4 guy by far anyway. I haven't found an amp I like better just because of the unique grind it has... But I'm getting off topic. Super huge Diezel fan but for just high gain sounds those early rev ubers are pretty legit and the early ones do sound unique, they got more generic later on. Biggest problem with the early rev is the gain is kinda on or off... Just stupid quick taper to them.

Btw I did dig the Hagen very much, just didn't have that grind I loved. Much more modern.

I actually liked the DMoll as well as the Hagen, for the price the DMoll is no slouch.

Some of the heaviest and richest tones I have heard have been a VH4 and Uberschall run together in stereo.

From clips it sounds like the D-Moll has a particularity nasty high end that is not as smooth as the Herbert or VH4's high end. Is that true?

so d-moll or uber to mix with my hagen?
I have ran a Herbert and a TJ together, and a Herbert and Hagen. You can't go wrong either way. I do prefer the Herbert and VH4 ran together over the Hagen in stereo. Simply, the Hagen is a mix of those two amps.
