Jesus why do you guys pick the easy songs to cover   other than you and the drummer, there was probably no one in the place that realized how challenging that song is to play.

Sounds good to me....the solo got a little lost, best I could tell, but your tone is really nice and your band sounds good. Singer does a really good job of DLR.

Everything sounded cool but the intro and some little sections of the solo. Man, that is a hard song to get right on the feel, especially the intro. You were kinda all over the place during the intro section and I think it might've thrown off the band on where to come in.

Steve

Agreed! the solo got a little lost there in the mix but I think it's because of the camera placement. It also was my first night with the 5153. We do 3.5 hrs of Van Halen...so we do everything from "Jump" to "Dirty Movies"...we just added "Sinner's Swing" and "Secrets" lol.

Agree Steve, I have a habit of playing that intro riff too fast...I've slowed it down a bit since that show...one of the reasons why I record most of the gigs, to view back and see what the hell is going on.

Who cares what we think what did the bar think? I loved it! The mini sounds great

I'm guessing he cares since he asked us what we thought. ;)

There's some great players on this board...and some huge VH fanatics. Always open to getting better.

I agree with Steve. There is a timing thing in the intro if that is hard to get just right with that riff. Other than that, I think you guys sound great.

You can really hear what I am talking about in this clip with Doug Rappoport. Sounds like he is hitting the root note twice and to my ears, that makes the riff what it is. Again, not a criticism by any means just a very subtle thing that makes that riff stand out:

Great footage of Doug! NICE! Thanks for sharing that...I see what you mean!

Love it man!
I am one of the weird guys where Diver Down is probably my Favorite VH album. :D

DD has some great tunes on it...we just worked up "Secrets"...want to do "The Full Bug" soon...thanks for checking it out!

I don't know the song, so I can't comment on accuracy. However, your sound is great, and what is important is if you had fun playing your interpretation of the song. Sounds rockin to me. Is the 5150 your main amp now?

Nice! Very hard to replicate but the fact thst you did days a lot. The isolated evh track of this is on YT. I downloaded it to my phone s few years ago. It is unreal how he does it so well.
On a side note, the amp sounds great and cuts through nicely! Mine is arriving today and I'm psyched !!!!

Thanks for taking the time to view the vid guys..

To answer some questions, yes, the 5153 50w is my main amp now. If you have one coming or if you're thinking about getting one...you're gonna love it:

a) it's so small and portable...yet 50w
b) has 3 channels...I'm a bit of a gain addict and I don't even use the red channel ever...all the clips are the blue channel.
c) I love that it has a shared eq/volume on the green/blue channels...I used to own the full head a few years ago and it was a bit of a pain adjusting volumes. If you wanted to turn up your volume on blue you had to turn it up on green, etc. This way you just turn only one up.
d) I know there's a lot of talk about a volume jump between green and blue. I was worried about this...but if you set the gain for green/blue around 1 o'clock the volume jump goes away...and the green channel (clean) is still clean. It's not Fender clean but it is Marshall clean...and that's all I really need for a channel switcher.

Cool stuff!
I need to get to one of your gigs...

Wayne, you in CT? We're based out of Fairfield/New Haven county...playing the Drafthouse in Shelton next month if you're close to there

I can't compare to Doug R, he's amazing...but here is the rhythm to the intro done acoustically so you can here it without the distortion. Ed actually played that pretty clean. https://youtu.be/cRYXrgaOkaI
