Given the choice I'd probably pick a Bassman or Twin, but I wouldn't be ashamed to play a Classic 50. They're pretty solid if you like where the midrange sits. I generally don't get along well with Peavey mids. They're too nasally for my taste. The Classic sits well enough that I can work with it.

Crate has a couple of sleeper amps from the 90's era. The Lee Jackson designed GT50/100 Stealth is damn good. I have and prefer the 50 watt version. It oozes high gain hair metal for days. It's been forever since I've played one, but from what I remember the Excalibur was pretty good for a SS amp. 90's Crate amps were better than the utter can of angry hornet shit that came out of the 2000's, especially after St. Louis Music sold the brand.
I was just making a joke because I bought my daughter a Classic 50 stack last week :ROFLMAO:

What cab(s) did she end up with?
It's the peavey stack with the 410e and the 115e. I posted it in Charvel Dan's stack thread. We swapped the blue marvels out for legends and 1028k. Not sure what the 15" is, but I think it's a legend variant as well.

I am an Obeid Kahn fanboi who did a lot of the st Luis music stuff. I followed him to through Reason amps, Magnatone and his namesake Khan Audio. Dude knows tones
And he's a talented musician. Him and Carlos Bedoya have both worked on amps for me. In fact I sold Carlos an SVT CL last year. It was one he likely made or designed. '96 SLM. I no longer have need of 3 of them so I got rid of two and kept the '89 SVT II ( non pro). Ditched several "Fridges" too. One to a friend of mine who is a guitar player in a Styx trib band with Carlos. I kept one of those too. Also a '96 SLM. My 'EAT SHIT" cab. No tolex, grill cover is held on by 2 drywall screws and the cloth has "Eat Shit" stenciled on it. I bought it off a local punk bass player. Fucking thing sounds awesome.
