I was just making a joke because I bought my daughter a Classic 50 stack last weekGiven the choice I'd probably pick a Bassman or Twin, but I wouldn't be ashamed to play a Classic 50. They're pretty solid if you like where the midrange sits. I generally don't get along well with Peavey mids. They're too nasally for my taste. The Classic sits well enough that I can work with it.
Crate has a couple of sleeper amps from the 90's era. The Lee Jackson designed GT50/100 Stealth is damn good. I have and prefer the 50 watt version. It oozes high gain hair metal for days. It's been forever since I've played one, but from what I remember the Excalibur was pretty good for a SS amp. 90's Crate amps were better than the utter can of angry hornet shit that came out of the 2000's, especially after St. Louis Music sold the brand.
