Has anybody directly compared the EVH 5150III to the JVM410H

I've owned both - twice in the EVH's case - but never compared the two directly so my memory is a little cloudy of the JVM. Has anybody compared them both, with opinion to offer? I remember liking the JVM's clean quite a bit more?

I owned the 5153 for a bit and really liked the Blue channel. I have played a handful of the original JVMs in addition to a new JS JVM. I will say that if I had a choice between the three of those I would go with the Satch signature. The cleans sounded great and the added features were great. It sounded a bit more open as well. I think all three amps sound great but would probably go the JS JVM route if money wasn't an issue. If you are thinking 50 watt the 5153 version is hard to beat for size, tone and cost. I would probably use these amps differently than most as I hardly play metal anymore (i listen to some but just don't play it).

What have you been up to Adam? Haven't heard from you in a while.

I was just thinking I should check out a JVM before I pull the trigger on a 5150III and considered making this same thread...
However I never thought the cleans on the JVM would be better

I've had a 5150III mini last year and it was a great amp, especially for the $$$ That blue channel is great! Unfortunately mine was quite a mystery with the issues it had. Sudden loud buzzes and hums for no reason, switching problems (amp would switch for no reason with nothing plugged in) They repaired a few things with the hum but never could get the switching figured out. Fender took it back and they gave my local store a credit for me as there were no new ones in stock in the system. I found the red channel had a certain honk to it that I couldn't dial out.

A year later, I have had the JVM Satch amp for several months and couldn't be happier. It is an awesome setup for me and gives me the sound I want as well as the features that I want. It was worth the extra that I spent. Very cool amp!

I run it through my Torpedo Live and it sounds fabulous through FOH and with the built in cab emulations on the Live. I had a Kemper previously and this setup is so much better sounding to my ears. At some point next month, I'll try and put up some clips.

I've put them side by side on a couple occasions (at Guitar Center FWIW) and each time the 5150 III was the better amp for me. I may be in the minority here, but to me the JVM was sort of lifeless and generic sounding. I've heard good clips/videos and they can sound really good tracked, but nothing jumped out at me or inspired me while playing it. It's possible that the ones I played at GC had bad tubes.

I have spent WAAAY too much time playing those two amps side by side lol . The JVM is crazy versatile , but I prefer the overall tone of the 5153

Right off, I'd get the 5150III over a standard JVM.

If you want lots of Marshall sounds w/ tons of versatility and a pristine Clean channel, the Satriani JVM.

If you don't want the Marshall voicing the EVH.

That's how I felt about the JVM everytime I played it. Yes tons of gain and versatility, but egh. It's just missing something tonewise. I haven't checked out the Satch but I'm keeping an eye out for it.
