I deployed my first AI system in the late 1980s, and ever since every solution either reduced the human skills needed to do the work, or eliminated the need for humans to do the work. In the last 3-5, that process has accelerated, and will continue to accelerate.

I'm waiting to see quantum computing + AI...that's going to be "game over" for whatever remains of white collar work, and scientific work.

Unless there are major breakthroughs in robotics, most remote trades / blue collar work will remain longer (by remote, I mean where the worker has to go on-site to do the work vs a fixed location factory, warehouse, power/water substation / generation plant, etc.)

I realize working people are worried about this but i don't see much discussion about loss of the tax base (hourly and salaried workers) and what it will do to retirees when SS dries up.

The 1962 telegraph bulletin article states the incident was an accident and that Witherspoon was playing with the weapon when it discharged.

The newspaper also said that the victim was reported in good condition.
