Has there been a decent 6505+/6534+ comparison yet?

I can't seem to pull up anything other than that Tone King video, which sounds horrible. I'm playing lead in a kind of pop punk/"hardcore" meshed band (and by that, I mean they do cheesy breakdowns and sound nothing like Sick Of It All). I definitely want a 6505+ because it suits the music, sits great in a mix with Mesa Rectifiers, which is what the other guitarist is using, sounds great with VHT Fatbottom cabinets, and double as a great metal amp, which is my main thing. It's old reliable and all that good stuff. But, the 6534+ has EL34s and supposedly has that British flavor and honk, which might be great since I'm going to be playing lead guitar. It also has some improvements in noise reduction and a better crunch/clean channel.

So, any decent clips comparing a 6505+ and 6534+, or people who have played both enough to form a solid opinion?
 
I've had them both side by side and I greatly prefer the 6534+. It is an awesome amp. I play mostly modern metal and dabble in 80's/90's hard rock/metal. The cleans, the clean channel with the crunch pushed in and the lead channel are all much better than the 6505 or 6505+ to my ears.

I've heard the same thing from countless people.
 
This thread is giving me GAS for one of these. I do think it's odd that we don't hear that much about them on the forums though.
 
slap a Marshall logo on it and call it mod from the latest greatest modder, and people would be talking about it. :aww:
 
I'm wanting to buy a 6505 but can't find one used locally. May have to spring for a new one.
Maybe I should go for the 6534+ ???
 
The only think I didn't like about the two I had other than it saying Peavey on it :D is that it isn't quite as articulate as the big money/much talked about amps. Not that it's fuzzy or blurry because it isn't but it just doesn't have the articulation of say a Mark series amp or some of the boutique stuff. It responds really well to tube changes too and you can clear up some of that "Peavey tone" that way. All in all it's a really fun amp to play.
 
I have owned or played about every high gain amp out there. I recently took a 6534+ in a trade. Wow was I really surprised with this amp. Clean, crunch, lead all great!! The amp was really biased cold when I got it, I rebiased the amp to the proper current using a bias probe. Do not use peavey's bias method on the amp, it is not even close to being correct. I have played both the 6505 and 6505+. I would choose the 6534+ over both of them. For the price on these amps you can't beat it. The 6505+ sounded a little to muddy for me. I would try finding a used 6534+, you should be able to find a used for around $900.
 
Also wanted to add, the only thing I don't like about this amp is that it's still really noisy. I don't think the noise reduction was much of an improvement. You will defiantly want some kind of noise gate.
