i applied a waterslide headstock decal and there are some tiny bubbles that can only be seen at certain angles. What should I do? I haven’t applied any clear over top yet. And it’s on a neck that’s finished with nitro and I plan on clearing over the decal with more nitro.

Use a needle to poke a hole in each bubble to let the air out.

I have no experience with waterslide decals, so I'm interested in this thread, too.

I was wondering if using a needle, as rottingcorpse suggested, would work. I'd guess the finer the needle gauge, the less chance of leaving a permanent mark.

Would re-wetting the decal be an option? Or once the adhesive has dried, is that it? Would wetting it before using a needle to remove the air help at all?

yeah try the needle thing. I doubt you will get all the bubbles out but it will be a little better. When I put decals on I normally spray the surface with soapy water first (not to wet). It lets you move the sticker around to get all the bubbles out, then the water dries and you are all good

I've done a few water slide decals and never had this problem. If you haven't applied anything over it can you re-wet it?
Is there nitro where you placed the decal or was it bare wood? I've only done it on bare wood,If it was on top of nitro that may be what is causing the bubbles.

It was placed on nitro. I did put a little water on the headstock before placing the decal.

If you try a needle get an insulin needle. They are going to be the highest gauge(smallest) available.

Well know I guess I wet sanded a bit too much and went through the tint on the edge :( suggestions?

I think you just went through the nitro into the bare wood. I believe what you think is tint is just the color of the nitro.

Please get a second opinion, but I think you would need to respray a few coats of nitro, and be careful wet sanding next time.

Duh. Ya. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that lol. I’ve been using clear to cover the decal. So I should just get some tinted.
