So first off ... I hate wearing anything in or covering my ears. I want to hear the full kick ass tone of the music. But 10+ years of live shows and rehearsals have started taking their individual tolls on my ears.

Eardrum and balance problems suck.. So I'm going to start being a earplug wearing sob. I've tried several so far and I've landed comfortably on Earasers. I made the mistake of trying them for the first time during a gig... Dumb idea.

It took probably 3 -5 rehearsals to get comfortable hearing "myself" well enough to use in a live setting. That said, I'm really digging them. Now when we rehearse and I take the out at the end... It's shocking how loud the snare is afterwards. Almost painful.

Best part.. I can honestly hear everything pretty evenly, if anything it's help me concentrate more on being in time with the drummer during solos because everything seems so much more clear.

Check the site out.

Any one have any suggestions for hearing protection of there own ?

I like Sensaphonics the best.

Have you compared them to Earasers by chance ? What do you like about them over other options?

I use a combination of Earasers and Hearos. I can hear better with Earasers, but I find that Hearos provide more protection.

Ergo... I use Earasers at Gigs and Hearos and rehearsals.

My wife had some made for me by hearing specialist. I sued to hate them but now I like them. It takes time to get used to it for sure. My hearing is already jacked up now so I guess I am just trying to keep what I have.....

I just use regular ear plugs, the disposable kind. I know that there are better options, but I check my sound without them in, to make sure I'm not stabbing people in the ears with an ice pick, then put them in and adjust mentally. I've used them since the start, so I'm pretty used to the muted highs. You're right about the snare drums though, that shit kills. I had one drummer years ago with a DW set, huge 9 ply snare. Loved 311, so every hit was a rim shot. Good god, you would wince every time.

I use the Hearos blue ones. The ones with the highest attenuation. I could still feel the sting of the snare, etc when using other plugs with less attenuation.

I've been using these for the past few years. They are pretty fantastic, and I can thrash around all kinds of crazy on stage without them popping out or moving at all. They also have a little pin that you can push in or pull out to adjust your attenuation and high end frequency loss.

I think it was Tom that recommended them to me? Or maybe I recommended them to him. Who the hell knows anymore haha

I'm currently using the Hearos Maximum Fidelity plugs, but I'm always on the look out for something better. I don't remember practicing this loud when I was younger. Seems like my current band only know extreme volumes...lol!

Is this for a live application or just yourself? If solo have you looked into a good attenuator like a two notes torpedo live?

It's for a live band setting. I'd probably go with a bedroom amplifier if it was just a solo thing.

I've got a set of custom molded IEM's with a ton of built in speakers. They are probably the best dang headphones I've ever had. A previous band I was a part of; thought they'd take the dive into in ears. They got the IEMs but only then did they realize the true cost was in the transmiters/snake/board setup. Needless to say I've never even gotten to use the dang things for what they're truly meant for.
