What’s up guys?! This has been requested quite a few times… so here it is. Let me know your thoughts? I know bringing up stuff being expensive is blasphemy BUT thought some guys who have asked about this one a bunch could find some value to this video. As always, hope it helps, cheers!

Killer clip as always. Those amps a next level. I am with you in that killer/brutal tone can be had for far less.

In both of your Hellrazor shootouts I hear the same thing that drives me nuts about the Hellrazor. When you hit an open unmuted chord it does this weird splatty sound that makes it sound like you didn't fret the note correctly then as it blooms it goes away it's clear its the amp not you. Uber by a mile for me. The MTL doesn't seem to have this issue. Great comparison and I will say the Hellrazor is the king of chugs. If I were wealthy and recording an album I'd have one just to layer in chugs on my tracks.

UU here

Love your video. You are correct that the UU is a bargain compared to many many others. I Love my 6L6 version and think I would still like it better than the HR overall.

Uber ultra for me too, maybe to get them closer I would’ve put the Uber on hair or Uber presence but it also gets very nasally in that setting. The Hellraiser sounded great but I was also hearing the “spatty” low end as well. Both rip for sure, thanks for the comparison, Brandon 👍

How would you compare the Uber Ultra to the older 2ch rectos with a boost?

The Wizard is one of the most open sound amp in the world the other is knowed for a blanket in front of the speakers.

In terms of the question in the title, my opinion is it depends on your means and your goals. Can you afford high end gear, and you need to find out for yourself? Then absolutely yes, it's worth it. You can't get the experience of a Wizard or a SLO (for example) from clips.

Can you not afford it but you want to be one of the cool kids so bad you make poor decisions? Then no, really. Dollar for dollar, it's still hard to beat a 5150/6505 for recorded metal tones and live work.

Cost & value in the market is about the experience as a whole, and the actual tone is only one part of that experience. Example- $~1K amp vs. $~12K amp.

I would say 90% of thrash and death metal (old stuff) was literally a handful of cheaper amps/brands and a few pedals. Also the engineer is 50% of said sound

I think the hellrazor sounds better by a smidge, but both sound good. the UU sounds better to my ears than the original uber.

I think @GJgo is correct that most people would be happy with a 5150, but it depends on what you're doing TBH - if you're just a guy who is into guitars as a hobby and want to make noises that sound good, yes. If you're a guy in a band or recording stuff, still yes, but you're gonna sound like everyone else, which is kind of lame.
