Help choosing a new Wireless

Hey guys, I broke the body pack transmitter for my X2 XDS Plus last night. I forgot I had it in my back pocket and it went crunch. Let me clarify what broke. The little threaded ring on the transmitter pack where you plug the cable into the jack broke off. The cable can still go in the jack but there's nothing to lock it on to so it moves around and I don't think it's gonna be dependable. So I need to replace my wireless. I spent some money on extra cables for this XDT4 transmitter and would like to find another transmitter and keep using this wireless system. I found a used XDR 95 system locally on Craigslist so I could use the transmitter from that and have a back up unit as well. Or I could shell out the cash for a Line 6 G30 which has less range than my XDS plus. I really don't want to shell out the cash for the Line 6 50 either. I know a lot of you guys where using the XDS Plus and have switched to the new Line 6 unit. Is it that much better than the XDS ? I know the battery life is better but what about the sound quality? What should I do? Try to find another pack for my XDS or buy the Line 6 G30 or 50? :confused:
 
G30 is an awesome unit and you can use regular 1/4" cables on it.
 
+1 on the G30... AA battery life is 8+ hours, almost dirt cheap compared to other units, 98 feet range more or less, connects with regular 1/4 to 1/4 patch cable, a little less than 4ms of latency, doesnt suck your tone... nuff said! :thumbsup:
 
I've been using the G30 for around 8 months now. Sound is superb but I've NEVER had 8+ hours of battery from it.

Just last night my batteries went dead after no more than 5 hours use (half way through the 2nd gig on the same batteries...3x45min sets a night), right in the middle of LZ's Rock n Roll which sounded a bit naff with no guitar! Anyway, switched over to a cable and HATED it...much prefer the wireless sound for some reason.

But the lesson for me is change your batteries after every gig to be safe which is what I usually do anyway

some batteries last longer than others.. i found out that the cheaper "less branded batteries" sizzles out faster.
 
I've been using the Relay G90 and I like it MUCH better than any other wireless I've owned. :thumbsup:

I always put in new batteries as I am setting up for a show. The ones I take out go into a separate bag and I'll use them for rehearsals until they die. I have the XDS95 and have been running it for the last two years I guess. The other guitar player and bass player in my band have them as well.
 
I guess I'm leaning towards the G50 since it's basically the same thing as what I have (The X2-XDS Plus) I just wish the G50 had the same 1/4" connection like the G30. What's the difference between the G30 and G50? Is it just the range? Or do you think there's a tonal quality difference? The G30 is made out of plastic and the G50 is metal correct?
 
Well, I ended up getting the Relay G50 since it was basically the newer version of what I already had the XDS PLus. Seems like a really solid unit. I like it better than the XDS unit. The reciever and transmitter pack are smaller and made of metal. I don't like the cord though. I'm going to see about getting an extra TA4f connection and putting it on my Mogami cable with right angle Nuetrik connector from my XDS unit. I really like the construction of the G50 model. :rock:
 
I didn't think they offered it but lavacable.com does offer the TA4f connection for their wireless cables. Sweet. That's where I bought my other wireless cables so I'm going to upgrade this one as well.
