Do any of you Cornford guys know if it's ok to us KT66 Tubes in a MK50-2?

I use them in my mk50 no probs ( other than a bias tweak). Only the early mk's need an additional resistor, if youre unsure fire off an email to Cornford and Martin will likely get back to you

Which 66's ? I have golden dragons and there are ace. I have switched back to svetlana =6l6= for my gig at the weekend just to see which I prefer.

yes you can on the 6L6 setting and bias them.

BUT, why would you want too?

with the MK-50 II you can EL-34 tubes. i'd choose SED EL-34's ahead of running the 66's.

for me with the MK II, the 66's would be something for if i'm really, really bored. the SED EL-34's are the Bee's Knees in the MK II.

I just grabbed another MK50, and I'm throwing in 34's shortly :D

I don't think so. Martin was going to build me an MK100 but I went for the CCV instead. Not sure if that was a good, bad or indifferent decision as the 100 was going to be a few hundred less. I still may go for it.

Thanks guys appreciate the posts-

Anyone know what is the Bias range on KT66? I am thinking same as 6L6 - ??

If you are using 6l6gc the 66 should bias lower. The 66 has a 25 watt max plate dissipation. The 6l6gc is 30. I would bias 66's at 34-35 ma based on 460pv. The 6l6 about
38ma. I would use 28 watts for mpd on the 6l6gc. I like to bias at 63%.

  Not a convert, I've always liked the Cornfords.Lots of other amps, too. :D

I still have the Custom 75, an Aldrich, and a cross between the CCV and 75. :D
