Guys that pass on a IIC+ HRG RI are blowing it.

Played the HRG RI at metal band practice last night with the settings I dialed in at rock band practice the other day with one simple change- treble pulled- and it was crushing on both my 6 & 7 strings. Excellent mids, tons of cut, liquid & bouncy as hell. This amp is 100% the best Mark I've ever played in a band situation, and I've tried them all.

Alright, here are the settings I've dialed in with both my hard rock and my metal bands. They are the same with one small change between them. The goal is for optimal cut, clarity and balance in a live band where the other guitarist is running a Marshall. This setup is nailing it AND it has a ton of grease, quack & feels. Note these settings in 100W mode are where they need to be volume-wise in both my bands with heavy hitting drummers. In the future I'm going to experiment with running 60 so I can get the Master 1 up a bit, and see if I still have enough heardoom for clean cleans.

• On the back, presence is on 8, however this will likely be to taste depending on what cab you're using.
• All knobs are PUSHED for the rock tones, except of course toggling Pull Lead to switch between channels.
• For the metal tones, the only change is I'll PULL SHIFT the treble knob. Oh yeah, and also I run an OD1X boost as it's my favorite live.
• On the rhythm channel you'll need to roll your guitar volume back to get cleans.

In both bands the cab it's pairing the best with is my 2001 Recto Traditional Straight 4x12. It's darker than my Marshall cabs & needs more presence to get where it needs to be.

I always feel like I "should" have Pull Deep engaged, but with my cabs at least it makes it too boxy & muddy. Keeping it pushed has been a secret weapon for holding my own with the Marshall stack on the other side of the stage.

Have you tried the TC BLD (PastFX makes a reissue clone) with the IIC+? That's my fav boost for my OG simulclass... Just the perfect amount of everything a tad higher.
