That's a MIJ ballsack headstock, mid 90s I believe. The USA versions are the SDI, II, III, and IV. Not sure what the MIJ versions were called. Decent guitar though, I've had 2 of the USAs and a buddy has one of the MIJs. They are every bit as good as the Model series from the 80s.
I think it was something like a "Journeyman" or something along those lines. They were MIJ Charvels that came out lat 90's or early 00's if I recall correctly. Decent guitars, but I'd take a MIM over that series any time.

Journeyman and the rest had regular Fender type headstocks, I had one about 10 yrs ago. Those weren't very good; mine wouldn't stay in tune very well at all. They were made like you said, early 2000s and were all MIJ. Those mid 90s MIJ versions with the ballsack HS are a good 1-2 steps above the Journeyman series. They are decent, many came with the Wilkinsons. My old SDIV USA was a Koa body, OFR, bound with a purple flame maple top. Beautiful axe. The MIJ versions are not that far off the USA SDI/II/III/IV.
