Help in choosing a chorus pedal??

I've had a few different chorus pedals over the years always hunting for the tone in my head (aren't we all) I had a TC Nova Modulator, TC Corona, MXR Black Label, MXR Stereo and the MXR Micro.

The Nova sounds good but changing presets is such a PITA on it it makes it pointless. The Corona sounds better than the Nova but still wasn't what I was looking for. It booted my Stereo Chorus from my board for a bit but I went back to the Stereo eventually. I'm a big MXR fan but honestly the Black Label didn't work for me, I can't put my finger on it but it just wasn't what I was looking for. The Stereo Chorus lived on my board the longest of any chorus pedal but just got booted by the Micro Chorus two days ago. The simplicity of that pedal is the magic I think.

If you want simple one knob the Micro does sound real good. It's like chorus for dummies, if you can't find the chorus sound you can work with from it then perhaps you should turn off the chorus and try a flanger or phaser or something to spice up what you're playing. :lol: :LOL: If you want loads of tweaking it's hard to beat it's big brother the Stereo though. I spent more time dialing in the Stereo than I did using it I think since I was always finding cool new sounds in it I liked. I think that's one reason I like the Micro over it...more playing less tweaking.

All said and done I sold the Nova, sold the Black Label, am returning the Corona and will be selling the Stereo and the one that is staying on my board is the Micro.
 
I have the Retrosonic Chorus which is really nice sounding and sounds good with gain. I wish there was cheaper version without the vibrato side of it. I had the TC Corona and thought it was really flat sounding, did not like.
 
I've gone through a bunch, Analogman, Fulltone, etc...... I always come back to my CE-5. Works best for me. Always sounds great.
 
i've been using my tc flashback delay as a sort of chorus verb'd effect in the mod setting//minimum delay, if you have one it's fun to try out, i quite like the results, very wide sounding:

others i've always heard recommendations for the retro-sonic chorus being top of the heap, so i'd probably look at one of those if i was being really serious about chorus (money wise that is ;)
 
Depends on how much you want to spend. I have a Tortuga Martini and it is the best one I have tried.

Ultimately, it does depend on how much you want to spend. I tried about 10 pedals and came away with the Strymon Ola: it's expensive, but by far and away the sweetest sounding of those pedals I tried. Bear in mind though that I didn't try a Red Witch Empress; another pedal that would have been right up there on my list.

Definitely go for the Strymon is you have the wonga!

Dr. Scientist Cosmichorus....does everything. More than you'll ever need or use :thumbsup:
 
I recommend the Ibanez FL9 .... it is also my favorite flanger.

Me too. Especially if you can find one of the older analog ones.
 
feel free to spend ridiculous sums of cash but if you want an incredible sub 100$ chorus that kills, just get the Digitech CF-7 Chorus Factory and be done with it..
 
The Micro Chorus is noisy....but awesome none the less. I have an original issue, and its one of the few pedals still on my board. Highly recommended.
