I'm going to build my dream SuperStrat since I never see anything like one that I would want (besides the blue Jackson PC1). I would like to hear your opinions/suggestions on everything and would like to know the best way to go about getting it built (IE build it myself from warmoth or have USACG/GMW/etc build it). I uploaded some potential designs. FYI I used this: http://www.yajimastringworks.com/tct/ys ... ekae-e.asp

So this is what I am thinking....

Body:
Mahogony or Alder
with flame or quilted maple top

Color:
2-tone Blue/Black Burst

Neck:
22 Fret
25-1/2" scale
flamed maple
Maybe from musickraft (charvel neck)

Bridge:
Chrome Original Floyd Rose with locking nut

Tuners:
Chrome Klusons or grover mini

Pickups:
(I want them to be covered not open coil... goes with look of guitar)
HH config- SD alnico pro 2 in neck, JB/Duncan Distortion/Super Distortion in bridge
HSH config- same as HH but with a noiseless single coil (most likely a Lace Chrome Dome)

I would go with the first one but make the jack a side-jack.

Thats what I was thinking. The first one as a HSH with a side-jack....

Yeah... The HSH wouldn't be my first choice because I'd trip over the middle pickup but if it works for you then it's all good.
Also, I wouldn't do a recessed floyd or a tilt back neck pocket.

Love the color choice.

I like One and Three the best.

I have used Musikraft necks before and was not that happy with them.
I would go with a new Charvel SoCal neck or Warmoth.
As far as the body Warmoth has some pretty kick ass finishes.

#1 as a HH non-recessed floyd with side-jack seems to be the Fav. This thing is going to be epic....
Should I just Warmoth the entire thing and build it myself???

No tone knob either... :D

I would lose the tone knob and use a three way switch for the pickup selector.

Thats not a tone knob, it's a vol for the neck pup.... idk about the gibson 3-way... I mean I like 3 ways but.....

dual hum, strat headstock, the3rd one down gets my vote. Musikraft can do both the body and neck for you...

Musikraft makes a great neck, never tried one of their bodies. Warmoth is pretty solid all around.

As for pickup config and trem, don't listen to us...what is that you prefer? Think what tones you want/need to get...a H/S/H setup with coil tapping will certainly be the most versatile way to go.

The recessed vs non-recessed trem has to be a personal decision based on feel. A non-recessed trem puts your hand in a completely different position in relation to the body if you want the bridge to float. A recessed trem will keep your picking hand in the same position as it would on a vintage trem or hardtail (a flush mounted non-recessed Floyd will be close as well), but it will be farther off the body for a floating non-recessed Floyd...closer to a stop tail/TOM setup. Which is more comfortable for you? I have/play both but I much prefer recessed Floyds for comfort. The bottom line is not to make functional decisions based on aesthetics or the preferences of others...nail down what works for you.

I just wanted to hear what people thought of the potential designs and pickup suggestions. I already have a SSS strat so I'm most likely going HH with a vol for each pup, side jack, reccessed trem.....

I'm going to see the cost of having a custom guitar builder (USACG, GMW, etc) could build it and then see how much it would cost to just warmoth/musickraft the entire thing and assemble it myself...
