Help me build my little home studio

Hey guys - I've been contemplating building a little home studio for a while. I've purchased a few items over the years but never went further do to lack of knowledge. I live in the middle of nowhere and I don't really know anyone I can talk to about putting a studion together.

Here's what I've got so far - a Macbook, SM57 and a MXL condenser mic, nice Behringer studio monitors my wife bought me for our anniversary, a little mixing board (Behringer 4 channels) and a Line6 Toneport. I'm all set in regards to guitars, pedals and amps, but need help for the rest. Lately, I've been interested into the Digidesign eleven rack.

What would you guys recommend for someone starting out? How about for drums' software? Anything else? Thanks for the help ahead of time.
 
I'm using addictive drums and by far it's the most real drum program I've used to date, but that's always changing... however this program is absolutely fantastic so far! Can't say enough good about it! I also hear good things about Slate drums as well!

Since you have toneport that means you can already use the newest pod farm right?? If so I wouldn't bother with the Eleven Rack, just get a good firewire interface and call it a day!
 
What about room acoustics? Sound reinforcement? Isolation? Echoless chambers?

Those are big factors too in recording- the environment itself that you are recording in.
That's what I'm currently dealing with.

Addictive drums is nice. I have it and I prefer it over the other budget drums software by far (EZ). But also take a look at BFD2 and superior!

And what DAW are you going to use? I have read some really good things about Logic. N-Track Studio by FASoft.com now has a MAC version. Adobe will be releasing a MAC version of Audition this fall or winter: http://bit.ly/aBbfPW

I use the PC version of Audition and really like it for it's editing capabilites. But it just sucks balls when it comes to VSTi. Lately I have been playing with MixCraft by Acoustica (PC only run in Boot Camp?) and looking at Reaper by Cuckos (There are OS X versions)

Last time I was at G-Center they had just setup a MAC with 5 or 6 different DAWs that you could use/try in store. I asked how long I could be on and the manager told me as long as I needed. I think this is a great idea. Wish someone would have done this when I was first getting started.....saved me a tone of $$$ trying every DAW I could get my hands on.
