Why not Schecters? I despise their necks. Entirely too thick and too round for me although they do sound really good. I guess I would have to play the newer models.

ESP I am interested in. I played an H-207 I believe and liked it a lot. Honestly the 2 things I didn't like was the neck was just a couple mm too thick, enough to bother me and the headstock looked pretty gay.

What are some ESP 7's with thinner necks and non spade headstocks?

I understand.
However, I will say this, I have a big hand but short fingers.
I like to say I have "paws" to play guitar, a cruel joke from nature. :)
So I am very sensitive to thick necks and overly round necks.
That's why I can't do LP's with the 50's neck. The 60's slim taper neck I can work with, but it's still a wee bit too thick.

My Schecter C-1 neck is great for my hands/paws. First time I played it I really liked the neck as it didn't get in the way of playing.
I also have a '92 Strat Plus Deluxe and love that neck as well.
PRS necks are unique to me, I like them.
They have a roundness to them, but they are not wide, so they fit my small fingers.
The most current model I played was a Tremonti model and it was awesome.

I find Ibanez necks to be VERY thin, very shred friendly neck.
It's almost too thin for me as I like to have some neck in my hand for a better feel when playing blues.
My preference for fast thinner necks is ESP.
And surprise I have a an ESP E-II on order. Should be in my hands by next week. :)
I'm thinking PRS next.

Something like this...sounds killer...I bought it here and hardly play it. S7420FM...has a few bumps and bruises but then it's in killer shape for it's age and upgraded pickups:

See I think that S is GORGEOUS.

However I'd rather take a black 7620 over a beautiful looking guitar if it's made with cheap parts.

I have an s540 from 93' and I love it dearly. Maple neck, yum.

However it isn't the 90's anymore and all the overseas stuff is scary. I really need to play one of those to see for myself.

Can't afford a custom or high end so my options are limited.

What would be the "right price" for that sexy bitch?

There's a dead mint S7420 in black on the bay for a good price but stock ibby pups are junk and I'm realllly trying to avoid black.

Edit: I've also heard short scale 7's can sound mushy/flubby/undefined if you will.

I have and RG540 or some such from the late 80s...killer shred machine.

The MIJ 7420s I've seen are all from around 2000, think mine is 2001..not sure.

There's nearly always one of these for sale somewhere....$500? $600? $700? who knows....shifting used gear is nearly impossible these days, so more like lower end of scale.

Yes I've seen the rg7420 for under $500 just looking for the right one.

Still undecided, 7620 might be the lowest I go 927 the highest unless Someone buys my S540

Dean Rusty Cooley ?

Shit man this thread is 3 years old.

I bought an Agile and already sold it.

I have been considering another 7 one day maybe. Was looking at Sterling JP70 or LTD MH417 but I want another 6 first now. I was playing with some very low tuning guys back then and now back to C.

Oop, guy before be must have necro bumped it... I didn't see it, sorry bro ! Lol

yeah i necro bumped but have been scavenging for a s7420fm for months now lol :p

All good lol.

Was just saying a 7 is not currently too high on the priority list now.

@tecs99 just pm him maybe he still has it? Was a great looking guitar.

@maddnotez i totally would but i don't think i have enough credz on here to PM people unfortunately. but my quest is really strong haha. thank you :)

Exactly what I said until I played (and bought) a KM7...
