Need help on choosing a bass guitar.

Looking for the bang for buck. Preferably under $500, can make exceptions. This is for home recordings. Modern metal.

Of all these probably the Ibby or LTD

Not sure if you have seen them yet, but the IBANEZ SRFF series can usually be had around $500-600 used, and they have Nordy Big Singles and fanned frets. LOT of bass for the money.

Spector NS5 (the cheaper version whatever it's called) can be had pretty cheap used.

I’d go to Guitar Center and play everything they have to get a sense of what you like. There are many vastly different pickup types (P, J, M, etc etc), not to mention the preamps. Some of what you posted is 35” scale which can make a big difference in the feel.

Without playing them, I'd say either Ibanez or ESP/LTD. But I'd want to go play them first. As Cardinal mentioned, there are many differences, and some of the same make/model are just going to be better than others. IMHO, it's worth the investment of time just to make sure you'll end up with something that is truly useful for you.

Try to browse your local CL for some good deals too.

I bought a German made Warwick $$ Corvette for like $700.
Worth the extra $200 for a well made bass.

I have a Sterling Ray34 and couldn't be happier. Here's their new 5 strings.

I'd do this.

Looks like a good option. I need to just pull the trigger on something so I can stop debating.

After having time, I have a whole other list and am looking at 4 strings now haha. :scared: Everyone is saying Ibanez will work but are plain and do not sound all that great.

Where are you in STL? You can come try my brothers out if you want. I am in Edwardsville.

This would be my recommendation as well.
EDIT:

I said screw it and went for the cheapest option

Got a Ruby Red burst open box - Condition 1 (mint)

https://www.musiciansfriend.com/bass/st ... ctric-bass

And I got the Sansamp Bass Driver - guy offered me 15% off since they are doing the promo on other items.
