Greetings all,
There seems to be a really good amount of experienced players/rack geeks on this board and Im hoping someone can help me out with what to try next.
1st, here is my rig:
Cornford MK50 II
Ultimate Attenuator
Rocktron Intellifex
Boss RPD-10 Delay(old half rack unit)
Rocktron Velocity 150
2 cabs- 4x12 or 2x12 depending on venue.
Pedal Board-
Old CS-2 Comp
Phase 90
Tuner
Tc Elec Chorus
TC Nova Delay(In loop)
Wylde Wah
Here is the situation. One of my bands has been a two guitar band for the last 8 years. Our other guitar player died of Hodgkins Disease last June. The band has no interest in replacing him.... everyone wants to just remain 5 piece with one guitar.
Last summer(we only play with this group in the summer to capitalize on midwest summer festival money) I needed to make my guitar sound considerably bigger to cover the ground that was lost when he passed.
Here's what Ive been doing for about the last year.
MK50 II with Intellifex(Verb/Pitch shifting) and Nova Delay in amp FX loop(Mono). Out of the head to the Ultimate Attenuator. Out of the Ultimate speaker jack to one speaker cab(Right) Out of the Ultimate Line out to the Boss RPD-10 set to 32 MS delay....out of the Boss Delay to one side of the Rocktron amp which feeds the 2nd cab(Left) It gives it a "decent" spread of simulated stereo.
The problem is that the tone of the delayed cab sounds REALLY "processed"...obviously....cause it IS processed, but I don't dig it anymore. I've done the W/D/W thing in the past, but it's not as effective for me as Im using IEM's and the dry shooting up the middle or even panned a little off center, kills the stereo spread therefore swallowing up a lot of my monitor mix space.
Short of buying a real power amp like a VHT or 2/90/2 and running EVERYTHING off of the Line out signal from the head, do any of you have any ideas on what to try to keep the stereo simulation but eliminate some of the "fakeness" for lack of better term on the 2nd cab?
Ive heard of people doing something like this with pitch shifting(Shifting one side from the other by "X" amount of Cents) with some of the high end Eventide stuff but Im wondering if that would yield similar results as Im getting now.
Anyone...Bueller....Anyone?
Thanks!
