I just want to record some clips of the Gower Rockmonster I have here, the thing is so bad ass that people need to hear what it can do, it is versatile and has good tones in it. I have an ipad and a pc laptop. What should I get, just to record some clips????

That is a totally acceptable solution. You might also check out the Blue Yeti or Yeti Pro. Very simple all in one solution that I've yielded some decent results with.

Why reaper over another software? I'm curious what sets apart for you; ease of use, free, quality of effects and mixing.... Just curious.

Thanks

can you guys include a rough estimate for the cost of these?

Gc had the focusrite for about a C-note. The Mackie about 150. Not bad for audio interface imo.

I believe Reaper has a free version, but not certain abou that.

I think the Yeti is $100-$150. The Yeti Pro is $200-250. I got a used Yeti pro for $150 and have gotten a lot of use out of it.

They both may come with some sort of recording software too.

Just what I'm used to....started with it a couple years ago, worked out the bugs and haven't needed anything else. Just recording clips at home, nothing more really needed, is all. It's pretty easy to use, and it's remarkably deep for what it costs.

The Mackie is $150, you can get the SM57 for around $100, and Reaper has a free trial for like 60 days or whatever and after that it's $60 with free upgrades for life. I always tell people to go quality but do it as cheap as they can....I know a fuckin TON of people that sink big money into this stuff and figure out they hate recording and just wanna jam. Don't spend a lot, but get quality stuff until you know if you want to keep it up. The stuff recommended in this thread should get you going, dude. Good luck and post what you get....any questions people will be glad to help out. This is a nice forum and most of the guys are helpful when they need to be.
