Just joined the forums recently so this is my hello and also a plead for help lol.
So I am putting together a new rig and this is my first time going midi and need some advice.
Here is my rig info:
Mesa Boogie RoadKing II
TC Electronic G Major 2
Voodoo Lab Ground Control Pro
Voodoo Lab GCX Audio Switcher
Furman PL-Plus conditioner
ISP DECIMATOR Pedal
Korg DTR-1000
SKB 6 Space Rack Unit
Boss FV500H
Now on to the questions. Will I be able to use the Ground Control Pro to switch the Channels on the RKII while changing the effects on the G-major 2 at the same time. Say I want a dedicated footswitch on the GCP to change the RKII to channel 2 with reverb and delay from the Gmajor 2. Just wondering if the setup I have will do that all at the same time. I want my pedals to be just the GCP and volume pedal only. Do i need anything else in my rig to do this.
Thanks in advance and I appreciate your help.

I don't see a tubescreamer in your rig. I'd pickup a Maxon 808 if I were you for in front of the Road King. I'm sure you'll love what it does to the tone

You can kind of do it with what you have, however since switching channels with the GCX requires a relay per channel you are going to run out of loops to do the routing since the GCX only has 8 loops. I would get something like this to handle switching the Roadking channel switching and function switches.

http://www.rjmmusic.com/ampgizmo.php

After that it should be pretty easy to route everything and program the GCP to handle midi switching of the channels on the RK-II as well as patches on the g-major.

So the ampgizmo is the only way to go? :**( $450

There are other alternatives, axcess CFX-4, rocktron midi octopus, or you can get another GCX. Since you are only using the G-major 2 for FX, you can probably just use what you have right now and use the GCX just as a dedicated switcher. You can just use the RoadKing to enable disable the loop when needed. What relays does the RK-II have on the back? Ch. 1 -4, FX loop, and.. ? If I was you I would try to draw out a routing diagram or find a template on the voodoo labs website to help plan it.

i thought the g major had 2 switching jacks built in?
i'm assuming the road king has standard 1/4 inch jacks for channel switching...

if so you have everything you need...even if you used two of the gxc's 8 loops for channel switching the mesa you still have one for the decimator and 5 more for other toys.

drop the g major in the roadking loop...set the loop for parallel operation..."killdry" on the gmajor so no dry signal makes it through the gmajor.

later on you can get a second amp for stereo fun!

ok so there is no way to select series/parallel loop operation...all series, so you will need to keep the dry signal blended in with your effected signal internally on the gmajor (kill dry off)

ooof...8 switching function jacks.

so you only need 4 channel jacks, one loop jack (if at all), and the solo jack, connected to the gxc, which acts as a loop switcher or a latching controller for switching jack functions

then you still have a loop in the gxc to insert your isp decimator in, and one more gxc loop for whatever (tuner, wah, etc)

or if the gmajor has switching jacks like i suspect, use those to free up more gcx loops.

"Guitar amplifiers with separate (mono) jacks for channel switching and for i.e. reverb or channel boost.

A "Y-split cable" will, in most situations, make it possible for you to switch channels and/or reverb on these amps.
-If the footswitch delivered with your amp has two buttons and two mono jacks, just obtain Y-split cable and connect the G-Major/ G-System Switch Out to the Footswitch inputs of your amp."

BUT!

" Channel switching with newer Mesa Boogie amps

Question
What kind of cable should I use to connect the G-Major / G-System with my Mesa Boogie Amp in order to switch its channels?

Answer
This answer is valid for all these models: Dual and Triple Rectifier, Rectoverb, Lone Star and Lone Star Special, Solo 50, Roadking, Express.

According to Mesa Boogie Tech dept, these units require an isolated ground connection for each of the rear panel 1/4" external switching inputs.Since Y-Split cables are sharing the ground, they cannot be used from the G-System or G-Major (which output connection is TRS) because they could cause damage to the amp switching network.

You can still use mono cables from the GMajor / G-System to any of this amp. This will obviously divide by 2 the switching possibilities since only 1 relay per output can be used.

An other solution is to use a switching device such as AXESS ELECTRONIC CFX4 or MIDI SOLUTION R8 in combination with the G-System. Note that the R8 is midi powered only and requires an adapter available at MIDI SOLUTIONS that can be powered by one of the DC 9V outs of the G-System : The G-System does NOT provide Midi power.!

How bout this as well. I'm torn between the Fulltone OCD and an Ibanez TS9. Yes I want true bypass, but just wondering your opinions thanks!
