Copy/paste I posted on gab. Trying to get as much info as I can, help a noob out.

As sad as it is I know nothing about delay. I need a delay for leads and for acoustic stuff on the electric. That is all I will be using it for and (for now) I do not need any weird ambient effects.

I have been watching videos on youtube and from what I am hearing I (think) I want analog but I am not sure.

The analog pedals sounded better to my ears but I would not know the difference between Analog and Digital. I have looked online and people say Analog is warmer but that Digital is more accurate and you can do more? But again, I don't need it to do more. I just want a subtle delay for leads and acoustic stuff so I am not sure what to get.

Skip to 6:15 in this video to hear the analog lead tones. This is what I like. You can't really notice the delay going on. Very subtle but it sounds killer.

So which is better for what I want? Analog or Digital? Also how would you guys describe the differences between the two?

Once I figure this out (I am leaning towards analog) I am going to get a cheap delay. It is going to be the Joyo JF-33 vs. the Caline CP-19 if I go Analog.

There was another thread not long ago about this same subject. If that thread was an indication, you will soon get a myriad of opinions.

I have a bunch of different delays both digital and analog. The primary "feature" of analog delays will be that the trail will degrade (less volume with each repeat) while digital delays will not degrade, typically. The El Capistan that I use also has some cool tape modulation effects. It's going to be all about your personal taste, my friend.

ok thanks, sorry I will try to find that other thread.

I hate analog delays in the loop of amps. In front they are ok, but then only for clean stuff . . .
I also have the Joyo, but prefer the Mooer Echolizer. Awesome pedal in front for clean stuff.
In the loop I like TC Flashback (mini) or my old Rocktron Ifex.

I have a Malekko 616 and an MXR Carbon Copy... Love both of them. I also have a Mooer Ana Echo on the shelf that works pretty damn good as well.

I think I need to just suck it up and take a trip to GC.

Older thread, but when I read "cheap" and "delay" i think about how happy I am with a Donner Yellowfall that just reached out to me from CL, ended up with a Big Spender and Phase 95 all in the same run, but the Donner was probaably $20.00 of the deal, and I've had it on every night since I got it.

Knowing how in to the br00talz you are, i'd say go digital

For a great sounding, simple layout delay, the TC Flashback Mini is hard to beat. Toneprint opens up endless ‘flavor’ options - but the small real-estate and simple 3-knob layout helps stave off ‘option anxiety.’

If you know you want to go analog, the MXR carbon copy is really hard to beat.

Another vote for the Carbon Copy, $85 used. I think it sounds great!

To me, the Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay is the gold standard for basic delays that you will use for higher gain solos. It’s analog voiced, but digital.
