a dude is offering me a trade for my ibanez. i was just wondering about first hand avatar cab experience. i have been over their site before but i want some first hand comments.
1) construction quality
2) combarible to what? marshall 1960, better, ? as far as build and sound quality ( considering speakers ofcourse)

speakers in it are V30's X'd with G12H30's .
1) tell me all about the g12h30's please. how they are alone, and how they would pair with v30's.
playing modded 5150 drop B aggressive metal through it. Live, NOT in a bedroom.

1. Their construction is very nice.
2. It was way better than my Marshall cab.
3. I'm not a big fan of G12H30s as they can sound real dark. I tend to like V30s and Greenbacks (but not mixed). G12H30s with V30s is a pretty nice combo. I ran that setup live with my 2204 and got a good tone.

Edit: I don't think that's a good trade deal, however. He'd better be throwing in a good bit of extra cash to help even everything out for that Ibanez.

dark would be nice for me. i assume some darkness would be offset by the v30's. He just told me its the traditional model. i gotta look, are they birtch or poplar?

13 Ply Birch. The traditional will be the least bass heavy of them all, due to its smaller size.

smaller size???

as in smaller than the traditional 30"x30"? or just smaller than some of their other stuff?

I'm assuming you're talking about the 4x12. Their traditional 4x12s are smaller than the standard Marshall-style cabinet. All the information is at their website.

ok so its 1.5" x 1" difference. i thought maybe they were going to be like those dredfull little tiny marshall 4x12s for the old valvestate or something. so as far as me being in drop B.....see any problems with the speaker combo.? he says he runs a VHT deliverance and a fireball through it now.

yeah, i missed that too. i forgot what avatar cabs go for. even on the heavy side, he's at $500. i sent him PM about it.

they didnt have the contemporary cabs last time i was on there(long time ago) those I am digging alot. and 14" deep. i might have to get a pair of those.

even if he throws cash in, do you forsee any speaker farting or dying problems with my tuning and my 5150 through that speaker combo?

ok its up to the avatar cab now, plus, an avatar 2x12 black with black metal grille with two warehouse 30 speakers.

again, could someone weigh in on any possible problems with my tuning and head going against the g12's? i would love some input before i drive 90min for nothing :aww:

Everybody told me the G12H30 was dark dark dark.

IMO, it was all screaming, in your face mids.

I sold them both.

hated them!

I find the G12H30's I have in my open back vox cab to be very bassy and on the dark side. Seems to be a pretty balanced speaker and pretty warm. I like them, but I am not sure how good a fit they are with my Vox AC50....

Well, I had them in some tighter 4x12's.

Plus, they probably didn't get broken in all the way.

but damn, I Hated them!

They are supposed to take forever to break in. Mine were bought used and were hellatone 30's, so I am pretty sure they are broken in.....

so now imagine lower tuning and high gain......good? no?

BTW anyone.....the 2x12 is loaded with "warehouse veteran 30's" any info

I have two Avatar Vintage Cabs---one loaded with V30s and the other w/ G12H30s. IMO G12H30s are awesome speakers, they sound good with about anything, although I haven't played drop tuned metal with them. The H30s are tigher than GBs IMO, but not as tight as V30s.

that makes me feel a little better.

Anyone know about the warehouse veteran 30's?

G12H-30's are like a blend between a Vintage 30 and a Greenback, but still different in some ways...

Those that say the G12H-30 is dark, I disagree, the speaker has a good top end - it's stronger and clearer than the Vintage 30, and overall has a clarity that the Vintage 30 lacks. It has more bottom end and is overall a tighter speaker than the greenback.

It's my fav I've tried so far...

They're like a smoother Vintage 30. Not as brash in the upper mids.

Thats one of the LAST speakers I'd use for drop B aggressive metal. They sound good only when they're super broken in; very harsh and scratchy when they're not.

i just talkerd to jerry P and he said there is no safe way(long term) to run them together with my 16ohm cab. and i'm assuming theres no way to wire 4x 8 ohm speakers to 16ohm?
