Help! Mesa Tremoverb 5U4G rectifier tube sparking!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DxUfFdcoh8I just last week purchased a 2x12 tremoverb from a friend, and it was basically brand new. Since yesterday one of the 5U4G tube rectifiers is sparking inside whenever I turn the amp on. If I switch it to silicon diode rectifiers it doesn't happen. I haven't noticed any audible differences yet but I haven't played it since it started happening. Anyone have any ideas as to what's going on or what I need to do? I'll try to get a video of it up soon.

I know that preamp tubes (12AX7s etc..) can spark or flash when powered up and that isnt a problem at all.

Maybe its the same thing with the rectifier valve.

I wouldn't happen when you have it in silicone diode rectification as it isnt using the tube, i'm pretty sure the tube is bypassed when using the diode. So that would be normal.

Is the tube cracked? looks like the spark is coming out and hitting a metal reverb pan or something.

it's shorting somewhere.

dont use it it tube rec mode for now. get new ones, see if it continues. if so, it's tech time.

but it's safe to use the sil diode setting.

Dude there is LIGHTNING COMING OUT OF THE TUBE. That's not, nor will it ever be, normal.

The tube is bad. Replace it.
