Not at all. Guy has been around a long time. I was getting tapes on him in the 90's. I thought the competition was for NON Pro's but it seems that's not the case. The one with the most Facebook friends wins :lol: :LOL:
 
For all the efforts made, he got 3 minutes at Crossroads. No band. Introduced as King Of The Blues wiiner or some such bullshit.
I don't dig the guy but in his defense he really got hosed. I would have told them to fuck off. If you look at the pure shit they put up on stage, Sayce would have blown their doors off.
 
Was there a Crossroads fest this year?
I haven't listened since the first one. I looked at the artists for each and noticed they're basically the same.
Extremely boring stuff. I find it hard to listen anymore.

At Madison Square Garden w/ Eric Clapton's usual cast of folks nobody gives a shit about. Plenty of vids on YT, including Sayce' 3 minute solo performence

Agreed, 3 mins and no band? Seems really weird. I hope it wasn't some bs about someone not wanting to get shown up. I saw him play with his trio a month or so back, a friend of mine I've played with is playing drums for him now, wish he'd got to play @ MSG w him.
 
Imagine if you had been one of the foreign entrants and won. You could have spent 2 days travelling, spending who knows how much of your own money along the way, to get there and play for three minutes. Oh and only the singer and guitar player can go up..... :thumbsup:

If anything, through the process of doing it, whether you played MSG or not, it built up your potential audience. Or you Momma just wore out her finger clicking the "like" button :lol: :LOL:

Just another bullshit Battle of the Bands though. Doesn't matter if it's the high school gym, the local bar or MSG!

It really was. He should have had his band on stage with him. I give Phil a lot of credit while simultaneously feeling bad for him having to go up there by himself for his three minutes. Fucking John Mayer isn't fit to change Phil's strings. My wife asked me if the concert was something I wanted to go to and now I'm happy I told her it wasn't worth it. I would have been pissed.
 
Hats off to him. He went at it like a pro and even though there may have been a lot of internal grumbling or even external to friends etc he didn't put it on the stage. Or maybe he was fine with it. Don't want to assume what he was feeling or thinking.
 
Checked out the artist list. Yawn. Bunch of good players, but it's the same every time. Why not mix it up?

Good for Alan Holdsworth though! :thumbsup:
