Hey guys. If I decide to go with a Tube Preamp, or an Eleven rack. What is a good cheap power amp? I don't want a piece of junk, but I don't want a thousand dollar power amp either. Actually, I don't care if it has tubes or not. I want the sound of the preamp to just be "Powered" so to speak. Any suggestions for a 50 watt power amp? I'll either be running a rack system with an Eleven rack, or a Tube Preamp, and then effects on the floor. I haven't decided yet. I used to always gig back in the day with a twin and pedals. But, I want to get away from dancing on the floor..hehe..
Thanks
T

Sounds like you don't want color from the power amp and don't care if it's tube which makes me think a matrix is what you want.

I've got a Rocktron Velocity for sale in the classifieds! It's one of the original 2 rack space ones and is really a good power amp!

If you want a dynamic interaction with guitarcabs: Koch ATR-4502

Peavey 50/50 is el84 powered, which is fine, but the 60/60 is 6l6 and has more thump in the bottom. About the same price.

Thanks folks. I'm going to try some out at a guitar store a little far from here, but this weekend.. I'll let you know what I find out.. Thanks for the suggestions. Sounds like the Peavey Power amp is goood.. !!!

I use the Matrix GT 1000 with my Axe-Fx II. Great unit. Highly recommended by many Axe users is why I got it and I wasn't dissapointed.

The Rocktron Velocity 300 is inexpensive and, believe it or not, actually sounds good.

Hi Jsutter.

Isn't mosvavle the hybrid thing with preamp with tubes and power amp is solid state or something?
I had a mosvalve amp from Marshall awhile back in the 90's and it was ok except at loud volumes. It also had a terrible habit of picking up police scanners or something in the garage / apt we jammed in. I hated that.. Sold it or gave it away as I had a Peavey Ranger tube amp that was so loud it could have been used as a PA.. hehe..

Mosvalve is another power amp worth looking at.
