help with w/d setup

I only have 2-2x12"s cabs hense just the w/d setup
I want to use the mpx g2 with my egnater m4
I plug directly into a MW-1 which can split my signal up to 4 times and gives me a nice direct sound for recording and reamping later

Basically I would like to have 1 side of my egnater going to my vht 2502 and out to
1-2x12 cab which is no problem but I also want use the egnater m4 into the insert of the
mpx g2 for the wet so i can use the pre gain fx and the post gain fx of the lex for the 2nd 2x12 cab

any ideas?
 
Can the Lexicon be set up with the 4 Cable Method? If you can route the effects either in the front or in the loop and set up patches, you could hook it up using this method (in front of the amp and in the loop together) so you can have both Pre and Post Gain effects.

Also, get yourself a Suhr ISO box.

I've been wondering how to use the slave out on my lonestar special,hmm!........but I really want to use my egnater m4 with th G2
I certainly could take the dry signal from
the speaker jack on my vht 2502 but that would mean I'd have to wait until
I had the funds for suhr iso box but I'm starting a fund right now!

Hopefully someone with some expertise with the G2 will chime in
and give us some insight
 
No problem man.

Basically, the 4 cable method allows you to use your effects processor in front of your amp and in the loop. IIRC, the MPXG1 was designed specifically for this. You can use the firmware on the processor to route the effects to either the front of the amp or the effects loop.

The signal chain for this would be..

Guitar->Effects (pedals and your MPXG1)
MPXG1 Effects Send -> Amp Guitar Input
MPXG1 Effects Return -> Amp Effects Send
MPXG1 Output -> Amp Effects Return


Oh, and if your amp has a SLAVE OUT, then you don't need the Suhr ISO box. The ISO box is used to send your entire tone (both pre and power amp) to the wet side. Setting up a wet/dry rig with most amps is done with the effects send jack, which would only send the preamplified signal. Using the ISO box solves that issue. The Slave Out on Mesa/Boogie amps is post-power amp, so you don't need it.
 
Are you planning on using just the VHT Power Amp? One side for wet, the other for the dry signal?
 
I have 2 different power amps I can use for the wet side
rt2/50 or an art sla2
I'm real partial to the fryette 2/50/2 for the dry, it's hands down my fav of the 3
If the mpx g2 can take a line level signal(now what did I do with that manual!!) perhaps I can mic the dry cab with my mixer and feed that signal to the rt2/50 to power my wet cab
 
Ah, very cool. I would try both the Randall and the ART power amp for the wet side, see which one you prefer. The ART will preserve your original dry tone better than the Randall, as the tubes in the Randall will color the tone. This can be a good thing of course, if you like what the Randall does to the sound. It's merely a matter of personal preference.

I would think mic'ing the dry side and running that signal through the effects, and back into a cab would be a nightmare. So many places for problems to occur.

I thought this was pretty much how bradshaw did it originaly for steve lukather

Yeah, that's how wet/dry was done back in the day. There's a reason we don't do that way anymore. :lol: :LOL:
