may i know where can interested hobby amp builder get this kinda chassis from ?
Unfortunately, hobby builder can not get this kinda chassis unless they are willing to order 30 or more, or pay $500 for a prototype.

Unless one wants to build a SLO clone. Then you can get one of these for a fairly reasonable price ---> SLO Clone Parts

Seriously though, you need to design the chassis in SolidWorks or something similar, produce the drawing files that can be used, find a metal fabricator willing to do anything for an amp builder, find a painter who does powder coating and a silk screener to do something like this. It'll be $500 or so for a one off as I said...

Steve

Powder coat you say?
I just happen to know a fella (yes it's me) that owns a powder coating shop.
You have white down, but any time you want something funky, what have you, give me a jingle...that's what we specialize in.

hi Steve thanks alot... i am indeed in the mids of soldering up tge board i ordered from C3 ... i have the chassis but am interested to build one more SLO clone with PTP and wanna learn how to mod the hell out of it... i would like to source one out non power coated... so i can learn how to punch the holes and etc... i seen hammond selling afew amp like chassis for tube amp ... but no idea if its strong enough to hold the weight

you have built a very nice amp !!!
Oh, OK!

You can get a Marshall style, un-punched chassis here ---> Unpunched 100 watt Plexi Chassis

That chassis is what I used for my original PlexRod prototype. I know TAD is in Europe, but it was the only place I could find exactly what I wanted and it was very high quality...

Did you know I did a whole "How To" entry with detailed pics on how to punch a custom chassis on the Henning Amps website? It's right here, check it out ---> Punching a Custom Chassis

This is me actually cutting the TAD chassis I used for the PlexRod. Hope it helps you out...

Steve

thanks alot steve :)

Sorry for the lame tech question: how are your heaters wired? DC? DC elevation?

Finished Prototype 2 today and did some initial testing. Everything is cool and sounds killer...
Can't wait to get the two prototypes over to a rehearsal space to do some extended LOUD testing of the two different preamps! You guys are invited, of course - I'll let everybody know when in advance, but nothing stopping it now! This is gonna be fun.

Here are a couple of pics of the finished amp internals:

Powering up with the tubes in to check some voltages:

Biasing up!

Some initial functional testing now. Always fun the first time you turn one on plugged in... Everything works right and sounds excellent (and LOUD!):

Wow, this looks great Steve!!! I can't wait to hear what this sounds like. Excited for you!

Your rigs look amazing. If they sound half as good as they look they'll be killer!!
Can't wait to hear clips.

I stand corrected... Seeing it completed, that is one seriously nice looking amp! If you care to do so, let's see that red jewel ignited. :)

Those look amazing! Love it...can't wait to hear some clips!

After we spoke last weekend, I told my wife the Cherry Bomb would probably have a little brother in the house soon....

Are you leaning toward the more aggressive preamp? You know what my vote is    :D

Looks fantastic my man!

What's all this talk about a more aggressive preamp then????

So, yeah, there are two prototypes. BOTH are more aggressive than the Cherry Bomb ROD channel depending on how you set the two Gain switches and the Bright switches. Both preamps are capable of everything the Cherry Bomb ROD channel gets, plus added aggression if you so desire. BOTH also clean up nicely with your guitar volume knob.

Prototype 1 (white head case) has more aggressive component values in the first two gain stages and less aggressive values in the third as compared to Prototype #2 (black head case).

I've been playing Prototype 1 for quite awhile now and dig it. Now I'm on to Prototype 2 and it's killing as well. This is going to be a tough choice, which is why I'm gonna have a bunch of players try them both at the event I'm planning and give me feedback to help. There is no right or wrong here - they sound similar to be honest, but there are differences...
