I was reading back and forward the topics, but I still don´t know which I should get.
It should be a cheap, used one that does it´s job good.
I could get a G-Major which has everything I need, for a good price, or maybe it would be better to look for a Rocktron ?
Or Boss, or Digitech (???), Yamaha PX, ...no idea.

I run a rocktron Xpression with my Herbert and it sounds really well but IMO the way you program the unit sucks.

I have a brand new Line6 M13 waiting for my brand new Herbert to arrive next week. I believe I can channel switch with the M13 based on it's scene mode. Can't wait to experiment with it!

:)

I have a rocktron prophecy and all is well
The thing is... any effects unit you get thats halfway decent i feel like there wont be much of a difference.
The heart of the tone i feel is in the amp.
Am i wrong? Anyone have experiences with units severely coloring their tone?

haha, used to play the 100w Einy, too.
Great amp, but the Herbert is more "adult" with more options and fits my music better.

I will use my rhythm tone pure from the Herbert, a bit chorus on the clean and some delay on the lead tone.
Maybe some other effects for some special stuff, I want my sound with only one footstep, no pedalboard "stepping".

Sure Rob, you´re right.
The best comes pure out of the amp, but...
I´m a big Tool fan, and if I listen to them, makes me want some FX

Cheers !

I have tried a ton of effects units with my Herbert (Rocktron,Eventide, Line 6, Behringer, TC, Lexicon). I found that most color the tone EXCEPT the TC, Eventide & Lexicon. That being said....i went with the TC due to $$ & simplicity. The Eventide & Lexicon stuff is top notch..but u need a degree in nuclear physics to program them. And if something happens @ a gig u are screwed. TC was simple, transparent & quite cost effective.

I use effects pretty sparingly..so it was a no brainer. and it didnt color the amps tone whatsoever. So go now Young Jedi!! :D

haha
Hey Pauly !
That sounds good. Which one do you use ?

Sascha

I can get one for arround 200,- Euro used.
I think that´s a good deal.
I guess I will try that one...

Thanks,
Sascha

Hmm.. i need to try one of these...
I always strayed away from other units because of setup and the process of having to learn how to program another unit. The reason i didnt go with one is because of all the bad reviews on HC.
..i know HC isnt the be all and all of gear but there was a LOT of bad stuff. Rocktron stuff got pretty nice reviews though.
RELIABILITY is the category that matters most to me. Being on the road will make that a top priority

Yes, they are pretty cheap (g-major1) to get now.
But hey, don´t forget about the "soul of the amp" !
;)

Peace,
Sascha

trust me... i hate effects. I only use to add a lil color. I would play guitar-cable-amp ANYDAY!!!! (which is what i pretty much do anyways!)

Sure. But it´s nice to have a little chorus on the clean and a slight delay in the lead...
I think we feel the same about that.
You have new post at myspace ;)

Cheers,
Sascha

Very true Pauly!
TC has an interface that is a breeze to setup on their guitar oriented rack/stomps..good sound and affordable price.
Eventide, for example the Eclipse of course is better sounding and not coloring at all but for many is a bit hard to understand
and edit preset.
A tc gmajor 2 in the switchable loop can be a good choice. :)

I just got my G Major 2 last night and am in tonal bliss..... I about threw my BOSS stomp boxes through the window last night after using the Gmajor for a while.

sounds good !
Let us hear more about it, do you use it with your Herbert ?
