Hey guys. If I leave my amp in standby for more than about 5 seconds before I power it off, I hear a very faint thud/pop coming out of the speakers. It doesn't do this really when I just leave it on for 1-3 seconds before powering down. I'm guessing it's caps discharging, but I just want to make sure it's fine. Thanks.

Have you tried leaving it in standby for 30 seconds to 1 minute (generally accepted as standard practice) prior to shutting it down? If not try that and see if it exhibits the same behavior. Oh, and report back!

that seemed to do it. thanks :)

Thought it might ;-)

Generally speaking, it's good practice to give it enough time to "cool down" (so to speak) before powering off. Just like when you power up the amp and leave it in standby for 30 seconds/1 minute to allow for "warm up". Anyway, glad things are sorted!!

Shit. Went to bed last night and left Herbie on (standby at least). He should be good and warmed up now.

Been practicing Brothers in Arms. Gonna play at a wake for a friend (and bass player) that died here @ 46 of a heart attack.

best of luck to you Steve. I have done a couple of those things in the past for very dear friends passed, it is extremely tough emotionally but the performances have fortunately gone very well both times, and most important of all - you will cherish the memory of taking the opportunity to be able to honour your friend properly one last time, long after you do it!

(sorry for the OT but thought I should share that w/Steve!)
