I need some help here !!
Although I have not turned up my Herbert much, I did today and noticed a very noticable
rattle to what seems like a bad pre-amp tube. So I shut it off and let it cool down.
After that, took off the back cover so I could turn it on again and "tap" the pre-amp tubes
to see which one it was. After letter the amp warm up a bit, kicked off the stand by and gave it enough
volume to hear where the rattle was coming from. To my surprise, every preamp tube I tapped ( and I was tapping lightly) seem to have this rattle. I then tried tapping the power tubes but they seemed fine.
I also for the heck of it tapped the top of the amp ( the wood casing) and again, I did not tap it very hard and you could hear the rattle. It was just as loud if I were to tap the preamp tubes.
Can anyone help me figure this out???
Thanks
Jim
