That is my Cherry Bomb :aww:

And I'm REALLY pissed off at my friend who packed it :bash: ... I blindly trusted him. He took care of packing and shipping expenses (since I don't have money right now). This is what I get for trying to go for the "cheap" route. I'll never make this mistake again...

I feel relived that the amp somehow survived!

Steve once again, thanks for taking pics of the horrible packaging and of course, fixing her.

Cheers.

The real lesson is: friends don't let friends pack and ship their expensive amps! If you can't afford 100 bucks for packing supplies and shipping on your $3,000 amp, then maybe you should wait until you can.

Why people buy high dollar boutique amps and not spend $200.00 extra for a road case is beyond me.
Amp owner , get a case and save your headaches down the road .
Money well spent and you will thank yourself many times over !

How would a road case have helped in this case? Do you expect the person to ship the amp back for warranty repair in the road case?

Yes i do , i do it all the time when i need to ship my Soldano amps back to Soldano Amplification for maintenance or repairs.
That is what it's for , to take the shipping abuse and not the amp. Only a fool would trust the shipping companies to be nice to your special item.
They don't care about you precious tube amp inside that box , their job is to move as much as they can and as fast as they can daily for profit. ;)
Why would you spend big money on a custom made amp and ship it in a homemade cardboard box and hope it won't get damaged when you can invest in a case and know it's designed for that kind of shipping environment and if you want you can put that in a box for double protection if it makes you sleep better at night.
If an extra 20 lbs is to much for special shipping needs then take the amp to a local tech and let them hack it up so you can save your small change .

I think that is great for sure and applaud you for doing it this way. I will say, however, that my original packaging I had specially designed so that it can take whatever UPS has to offer and still come through fine. Supposedly, the way it was designed, the packaging can take a high G hit without failing - that is what I was told by the designers anyway... Save your packaging!

This. Not sure how one can "afford" a $3k amp but not a $100 expense to protect it. I wouldn't warrant that thing either.

It's amazing, after countless posts on many forums about how to and how not to ship/package an amp, this keeps coming up.

Great PSA!

Wow just wow.

I am glad I read this post and I am glad it was your friend and not you.

I was going to say that whoever's amp this is does not deserve this amp and should be using a POD.
