Robben thinks so much of his Dumble that it doesn't keep him from leaving a drink ontop of it.

I still don't hear anything that a number of other amps can't do.

yeah i dunno, i really think he can get his tone from anything, he has a certain touch that shines thru even if hes just using a clean fender he pretty much sounds the same. i saw the larry/robben tour a few years back and robben's fender twin+zendrive rig sounded better than larrys dumble.

I saw the same show and IMO RF's Fender/ Zen Drive sounded NOTHING like his Dumble....and I don't think it held a candle to Larry's tone.

whats up carl. while it didnt sound like his dumbles it still sounded like ROBBEN. and it probably always will no matter if hes playing an LP, a tele, whatever. and yes i agree he was very loud, but larrys tone didnt wow me, even his playing didnt that night

i'd love for scott lerner to borrow tag's dumble, which sounds like a nice one, and lay down some clips demonstrating the amp and why it's so coveted. scott's style is perfectly suited to demo the dumble's nuances and he records very well. but i'm afraid all we'll ever hear from that amp is "politician", over and over and over again. and those henry kaiser vids are a travestsy.

the dumble dynamic is unique, and although i wouldn't dream of paying a fraction of what they go for, the single best TONE i've still ever heard was larry carlton at the sun in anaheim, playing through his dumble.

Fender and Marshall. The Dumble's were left back in Texas because a good Plexi kicks Dumble's ass anyday.

I have never heard clip of the Dumble that made me want to check one out. Even the clip that people like here sounds like it has a lot of asymmetrical distortion. Then again I like cheap wine ?

Randy yanked the clip off a post on TGP of mine, that I used to illustrate that holy grail tone and DUmble are not necessarily synonymous. That said a friend has two SSS and they're the shit. In hind sight when he bought them for less than 1500 a piece new build to his needs I spent 2 large for a Rivera TBR....

He really sold them for $1500 back in the day ? I never thought they went that cheap. I have only checked out a few clones myself. I do not touch the Dumble threads at TGP myself. Some people get pretty freaked out about gear and I do not need bad karma or what ever it may cause.

Totally worth it, I love my old one. That + some sort of echo pedal and you can great a great liquid lead tone from just about any amp.

Actually, I was just roaming You Tube and found it.
I was thinking how silly it is that Dumble's cost ridiculous money, regardless of the tone of the individual unit. It simply has to say 'Dumble' on it and you can take it to the bank.

I know 4 guys personally that own at least one,have played about 8 of them, and the price is the same deal as why a 58 Les paul costs as much as a house...vintage collectors...

As a teenager the band I was in the other guitar player inherited a 54 and 59 Les Paul from his father. I played them a lot. They were nice .... but only guitars.

How some things become collector pieces and others do not to me has always been a little silly to me.

I could have pick up both guitars cheap in the early 80's when he went in the army. His brother ended up with them and "modified" them to the point where it made them unplayable and impossible to fix.
Stripped the paint off removed the bridge and filled the holes and moved them back a little more than a inch. Because he did not like it where it was. After doing this he called me to have me look at it because it "did not sound right". When I explained what he desyroy and the value he did not believe me. What a waste. I never saw either guitar again.
